Thank a Teacher Day!

Wednesday 23rd June was Thank a Teacher Day and the Class One teachers were treated to a wonderful gift from Harriet and Toby.

They were "blown away by their kindness" and very much appreciated the gesture.

We also received a lovely message from Jenny Nicholls, a good friend of the school and St George's church warden:

On behalf of our P C C I would like to give you and all your staff , on this ‘National Thank a Teacher Day ‘, a huge Thank you!

We appreciate so much everything you and your staff do for our community. Well done !

The past year or so has been demanding and challenging for everyone - children, staff and parents alike.

I would like to extend my thanks to everyone involved in the education of the children of St George's.

Ahoy There, Class One!

This half term the children have been enjoying our 'Pirate' topic. They have dressed up as pirates and created their own 'WANTED' posters in our literacy lessons. They have been working hard to learn the story 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Breakfast' by David and Ronda Armitage by following a story map and learning actions.

The children have got creative making treasure chests, flags and pirate hats. They have followed instructions to make origami boats and enjoyed testing them in the water to see if they would float or sink. This week we had so much fun completing a 'Swashbuckle Challenge' which consisted of a mini obstacle course whereby the children could earn treasure gems as the prize.

Roadworks next week

Hall Road should be reopened in time for next Monday. There are some resurfacing works going on over the next few weeks but we have been advised that the roads will only be closed overnight, between 8.00pm and 5.00am.

PTA Sponsored Event

Please encourage friends and family to sponsor your child's participation in next Friday's 'Sportathon' event. Fingers crossed the weather will be fine and the children will all be able to take part in the various different sporting activities the PTA have planned for them.

The Two Johns E-Safety

I am still awaiting further information regarding the workshop with with the Two Johns on Thursday 8th July and will get this to you as soon as I receive it.

I have also been made aware of a Facebook Live event being run by the Two Johns on Sunday 11th July at 6.00pm. This is a Question and Answer session and is free to attend. For further information and to sign up, visit the Two Johns' Facebook Page 'EST E Safety Training'. Even if you cannot make this event, I would recommend you follow their Facebook page as there are some interesting updates on there.
