Welcome Back!

I hope you all had a good Easter break and that the children have enjoyed being back at school this week. As restrictions begin to ease and the vaccine roll-out continues, we are really hoping that this term will be uninterrupted so the children can get settled back into the usual routines.

We are now thinking about which of our usual events and activities will be able to go ahead this term; much depends on whether we are able keep to the schedule of the Government's roadmap. I will keep you informed as we go through the term.

Cheque payment

From now on, all cheques should be made payable to St George's C of E Primary School. This is because we now have our own bank account as Essex County Council no longer provide the central payment option to schools.

Child First Parent Workshop

As mentioned last term, we are now working with a charity called 'Child First' who provide support for children and families through counselling, family support workers and speech and language therapy.

Jackie Curtis, our Family Support worker, is running a free parent workshop along with her colleague Amanda. See the image below for further details.

The Parliamentary Review

Our article is now on the Parliamentary Review website as an online article rather than the pdf version of the publication.

I received the following email from Bernard Jenkin, the local MP, acknowledging and celebrating our appearance in the Review:

Dear Rebecca

Well done – to you and all the staff! It is wonderful that your successful work is being recognised in this way.

I do hope the new term gets off to a good post-Covid start. I know how stressful this must have been for you.

Best wishes

Yours

Bernard

Of particular interest are the Wellbeing and Parenting courses.

Parent Governor Recruitment

Before Easter, you received an email from me with information regarding Parent Governor recruitment. Just to remind you that the deadline for candidate forms is next Friday 23rd April. If you are interested to find out more, please feel free to contact the school office to arrange a conversation with either myself or the Chair of Governors.

I know we all lead such busy lives but it is vital that we have parent representation on our Governing Body and it is a very interesting and rewarding role.

Parish Council and St George's Church

I have been asked by the Great Bromley Parish Council to raise concerns about road safety at the crossing point from the Church Meadow car park to the school site. Please ensure that children cross the road with due care and attention to passing traffic.

The St George's Church wardens have asked me to share the following with you:

On Sunday 18th April at 10.30am there is a short informal service at St George’s Church, Great Bromley.

The service will include the baptism of three children, one from St George’s School.

We warmly invite parents and children to come.
