Your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains what information Weekly Quotes collects, how it’s used, and your choices. Weekly Quotes is designed to work entirely offline; it shows one motivational quote per week from a fixed, bundled list. We do not build user profiles and we do not sell data.

Summary (TL;DR)

• The app does not require an account and makes no network calls.

• We do not collect, share, or sell personal information.

• Data such as your favorites, last shown quote, and developer testing offset are stored locally on your device via Android DataStore.

• Weekly notifications use your device’s clock; content is the week’s quote and author.

• The optional home‑screen widget reads quotes from on‑device data only.

• You can remove all app data by using in‑app reset (if available) and/or uninstalling the app.

Information We Process

1) On‑Device App Data

• Favorites list: Quotes you mark as favorite.

• Last shown index & timestamp: Used to support “refresh to this week’s quote.”

• Developer week offset (optional): A testing setting you may adjust (+/‑ weeks).

• Theme & UI preferences: e.g., dark mode/dynamic color state.

Storage method: Android DataStore (key‑value), on your device only.

2) Device‑Derived Context (Not Personal Data)

• Local date/time & week index: Computed from your device clock to determine which quote to show. We do not collect or transmit this value.

3) Notifications

• If you grant POST_NOTIFICATIONS on Android 13+, we schedule a weekly notification (Mondays ~09:00 local time). The notification contains the quote text (truncated) and author so you can preview it. Notification delivery and scheduling are handled by WorkManager on your device.

4) Home‑Screen Widget (Optional)

• If you add the widget, it reads the current week’s quote from on‑device storage and displays it on your home screen. Tapping opens the app. The widget updates periodically (at least daily). No data leaves your device.

5) Share & Clipboard Actions (User‑Initiated)

• Share: When you tap Share, Android’s system share sheet lets you send the quote to another app/service. That sharing is under the privacy terms of the receiving app/service.

• Copy to clipboard: The quote text is placed on your device clipboard. Depending on your Android version and settings, other apps you switch to may be able to read clipboard content (e.g., when you paste). Consider clearing your clipboard after use.

What We Do Not Collect

• No names, emails, phone numbers, addresses.

• No precise location, photos, contacts, calendars, SMS, or call logs.

• No device identifiers for tracking, advertising ID, or analytics.

• No crash analytics or remote logging.

• No payments or ads within the app.

Data Sharing

We do not share your app data with third parties. The only time data leaves your device is when you explicitly choose to share a quote using Android’s share sheet, in which case the destination app/service handles it under their own privacy policy.

Legal Bases (EEA/UK Users)

We process on‑device data under the following legal bases:

• Performance of the app/contract: To display the weekly quote, manage favorites, show notifications, and power the widget.

• Consent: For optional notifications on Android 13+, which require permission you can grant or revoke in system settings.

Data Retention

All app data is stored locally until you delete it or uninstall the app. If a Reset/Clear Data option is provided in Settings, you can use it to remove favorites and preferences. Uninstalling the app removes all app data.

Security

We use Android’s standard application sandbox and DataStore for local storage. Because the app does not transmit data to our servers, there are no network endpoints to secure. Still, protect your device with a screen lock and keep your OS up to date.

Children’s Privacy

Weekly Quotes is suitable for general audiences and contains inspirational quotations. We do not collect personal information from children. If a parent or guardian believes a child has shared information with us via external contact (e.g., email), please contact us to delete it.

Your Choices & Controls

• Notifications: Grant or revoke POST_NOTIFICATIONS in Android Settings > Apps > Weekly Quotes > Notifications.

• Widget: Add or remove the widget at any time; removing it does not delete app data.

• Favorites & Settings: Edit or clear within the app (if provided).

• Delete all data: Uninstall the app (and/or use in‑app reset if available).

Third‑Party Libraries

Weekly Quotes is built with Android and Kotlin technologies such as Jetpack Compose (Material 3), Kotlin Coroutines, DataStore, WorkManager, and (optionally) Glance AppWidget and Coil for decorative images. These libraries run locally; none of them, as used in this app, send your data to us or their authors.

International Transfers

The app itself does not transmit data. If you contact us by email or through a store listing, that communication may be processed by your email provider or the app store under their terms and may involve international transfers outside your region.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will be available within the app and/or on the app store listing. Material changes will be indicated by a new Effective Date.
