One of the city's earliest five-story office buildings was the Kemp-Kell Building, which is today known as the Holt Hotel. It was constructed about 1910.

After being driven out of their homeland by Americans during the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek, the Choctaw Native Americans relocated to the region in the early 1800s from the Mississippi region.

[8] Between 1830 and 1831, the pact was ratified and declared. The region that is now Wichita Falls Wedding Photography was home to a sizable Native community as late as 1841. [9]

In the 1860s, a majority of American settlers were cattle ranchers. On September 27, 1876, the city was given the name Wichita Falls Wedding Photography since the Wichita River flows through the region and had a cascade in its path at the time. Just ten years later, in 1886, a flood wiped off the city's namesake waterfall on the Wichita River. [9] [10] Visitors had flocked to the no longer-existent falls for over a century until the city constructed an artificial waterfall in Lucy Park next to the river. 3,500 gallons of water are circulated through the 54-foot (16-meter) high, reconstructed falls per minute. On Interstate 44, southbound vehicles may see them.

At what is now the intersection of Seventh and Ohio Streets, the site of the city's founding, town lots were sold on the day it was founded in 1876.

[11] In September 1882, the same month that the city was named the county seat of Wichita County, the Fort Worth & Denver City Railway arrived.

[8] From the initial FW&DC rail terminal, which was situated at the northwest corner of Seventh Street and the FW&DC, the city expanded westward.

The Depot Square Historic District, which has been designated a Texas Historic Landmark, is currently known as this location [11].

Joseph A. Kemp[15] and his brother-in-law Frank Kell, two businessmen, contributed significantly to Wichita Falls Wedding Photography' early history far into the 20th century. In the fields of grain mills, railways, livestock, banking, and oil, Kemp and Kell were innovators. [16]

For a long time, Wichita Falls Wedding Photography' downtown served as the city's primary shopping district. These stores suffered as new shopping centers popped up all over the city, starting with Parker Square in 1953 and continuing through other similar projects in the 1960s and 1970s, culminating in the opening of Sikes Senter Mall in 1974. Since 2010, the city has been looking for financing to renovate and reconstruct the downtown. [8]

Oil refineries run by the Continental Oil Company (now ConocoPhillips) until 1952 and the Panhandle Oil Company American Petrofina until 1965 were also located in Wichita Falls Wedding Photography at one point.

[17] For many years, both businesses used a portion of their former refineries as gasoline and oil terminal facilities.

Tornado in 1964

On April 3, 1964, in the late afternoon, a devastating tornado struck Sheppard Air Force Base and parts of Wichita Falls Wedding Photography in the north and northwest (later referred to as "Black Friday"). Seven people were killed and more than 100 were hurt in the first severe tornado to ever hit the Wichita Falls Wedding Photography region, according to records[18]. In addition, the tornado damaged or destroyed 250 homes, costing an additional $15 million in property damage. [19] Despite being rated F5, the highest rating possible according to the Fujita scale, the 1979 tornado has eclipsed it. [20]

On Tuesday, April 10, 1979, a tornado with a wind speed of F4 struck the densely populated southern areas of Wichita Falls Wedding Photography in the late afternoon (known as "Terrible Tuesday"). It was a part of an outbreak that also brought about 30 tornadoes in the area. Despite having nearly an hour's notice that severe weather was coming, it arrived just as many people were driving home from work, resulting in 42 fatalities (including 25 in vehicles) and 1,800 injuries. [21] Its $400 million in damage and 20,000 homeless victims set a U.S. record for a single tornado that wasn't surpassed until the F5 Moore-Oklahoma City tornado on May 3, 1999. [22]
