Reverend Benjamin T. T. Wright, 79, of Gatesville North Carolina passed away on January 12, 2025 at his home. Services are entrusted to the Rocky Mount Management.  

The world bids farewell to Benjamin Teddy Thyvenssick Wright, Sr., who departed this life on January 12, 2025, at the age of 79.

Born on December 5, 1945, in Gatesville, NC, Benjamin’s life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and boundless ambition. A preacher with a gift for stirring souls, he dedicated decades of service to leading congregations and spreading the message of hope and salvation. His eloquence extended to the political arena, where he fought passionately for justice, equality, and community advancement.

Benjamin was also a gifted author, sharing his journey and wisdom in books that inspired countless readers. Later in life, his charisma shone on television as an overweight reality star, where he brought laughter, heart, and authenticity to screens across the nation.

Preceded in his death, three brothers, Robert, Nate, & Trey Wright, a uncle, Ronnie Johnson, two sons, Roy & Benjamin, Jr, and two nieces, Aliyah & Simone Wright.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Yalonda Wright, a father, George Wright, Jr., a brother, Barry Wright(Shaunie), four children, and a host of grandkids, nieces, nephews, & cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 18, at 6:00 at the Beulah Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Horizon Private Burial Grounds. A Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 17, from 6:00 to 7:15 at the North Carolina Capitol Rotunda. Wright, Sanders, & Wynn Undertakers will be directing.
