Computational fluid dynamics
for turbulent flows
Numerical modelling of turbulent flows is another fascinating subject, because it requires to work at the interface of scientific computing and fluid dynamics and to attempt the almost impossible task of representing in a computationally effective way a huge range of different spatial scales.
My main contribution to this field has been in the area of Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and was aimed at
showing how to improve the accuracy of Variational Multi Scale approaches incorporating advanced LES models
introducing effective statical and dynamical adaption techniques techniques to reduce the computational cost of LES
