I’m a huge fan of cPanel. It’s been my favorite web hosting control panel since the early 2000s.
The only downside is cost. It’s the most expensive control panel, and it keeps getting more expensive every year. Web hosting companies pay a license fee per cPanel account, so they also have to keep adjusting and hiking prices whenever the license fee increases.
I’ve been using a few cPanel web hosts that have kept their prices reasonably low over the years, especially renewal prices. The following are three provides I often use and highly recommend.
Shock Hosting is a small web host I’ve been happily using for years and one of my top favs in 2026.
The cheapest cPanel hosting plan is $2.99 per month and also renews for $2.99 per month. They don’t do what most other hosts do: bait you with a low intro price and later switch to 3x the price for renewal!
There is no nickel-and-diming either. They give you free email, SSL certs, backups, malware scanning, etc. A big plus is the free dedicated IP address - very few provides offer this with shared hosting.
Support is responsive, performance is solid (I have a small WordPress site with them), no major downtime so far, and overall a 5-star experience.
Pros:
Straightforward prices without gotchas
No renewal price hikes
Free SSL and email
Free automatic backups
Free malware protection (Imunify360)
Dedicated IP address
Solid uptime
Cons:
No scalability once you hit your plan’s limits
Their knowledgebase is thin
I usually buy my domains from Namecheap, but I also use their shared cPanel hosting and it’s been pretty good so far. It’s affordable, although they hiked up renewal price a little bit.
They give you a free trial for 30 days so you can test the service yourself before paying anything.
There is just one thing I don’t like; they don’t have free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates. Instead, they give you PositiveSSL certificates. These are free with shared hosting plans, but only for the first year, then they charge you $13 per year for renewing each SSL certificate.
That’s still an affordable deal. For example, the Stellar plan costs $21.36 for the first year after the free trial, then it renews at $48.88 per year + $13 per year for the SSL certificate.
Pros:
Free trial for a month
Reasonable renewal price
LiteSpeed web server
CDN included
Quick chat support
Cons:
Not all plans include malware scanning
SSL certificates aren’t free after the first year
Spaceship is the newest web host/domain registrar I’ve tried, and the one with the most modern UI. Their shared hosting comes with cPanel and an integrated AI website builder.
I haven’t used the website builder because all my websites are built with WordPress (they have automated WordPress installation and updates).
Spaceship has the cheapest renewal rates for web hosting and domains. If you’re planning on buying multiple domains, you’ll save a lot of money on renewals.
The only catch is that email accounts are only free for the first year (5 per domain), then you’ll pay $1 per month per inbox. This can add up to a large amount if you’re going to use multiple email accounts.
Pros:
Low monthly and yearly renewal rates
Cheapest domain prices as well
Modern developer-friendly interface
Malware and virus scanning
Automatic WordPress updates
Cons:
Email isn’t free after the first year
Backups require a paid add-on
