Welcome to Weatherix. This Privacy Policy explains how Manvik Hooda ("I", "me", or "my") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Weatherix mobile application. By using Weatherix, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Age Requirements Weatherix collects personal data including email address and location. Therefore age restrictions apply based on your region:
• US users (COPPA): Must be 13 or older
• EU/UK users (GDPR): Must be 16 or older
• Indian users (DPDP Act 2023): Must be 18 or older, or have verifiable parental consent
• Other regions: Must be 13 or older
If you are under the applicable age in your region, you must obtain verifiable parental or guardian consent before using Weatherix. Parents or guardians may contact us at support.weatherix@gmail.com to provide consent or request deletion of their child's data within 7 days.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide:
• Email address — when you create an account
• Password — stored securely via Firebase Authentication (never stored in plain text)
• Favourite places — cities you save in the app
2.2 Information Collected Automatically:
• Location data — with your permission, to show local weather
• Device information — device type, operating system version
• Usage data — how you interact with the app
• Diagnostic & Crash Data — crash logs, stack traces, device state information, and unique installation identifiers (e.g., Crashlytics UUID) collected automatically to help us fix bugs and improve stability
2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect:
• We do not collect your real name
• We do not collect payment information
• We do not collect contacts or photos
• We do not sell your data to anyone
3. How We Use Your Information
• Provide accurate, real-time weather information for your location
• Save your favourite cities across devices
• Sync your app settings across devices
• Improve the App, monitor performance, and fix crashes
• Respond to your support requests
4. Location Data
• When in use — location is accessed only when the app is open or running in background for weather alerts
• Approximate location — we support approximate location if you prefer not to share precise location
• Your choice — location permission is optional; you can use the app by searching cities manually
• Not shared — your location is never shared with third parties or other users
5. Third-Party Services
Weatherix utilizes premium third-party services to ensure application stability and forecast accuracy. These third-party vendors may use technical cookies and data tokens:
• Firebase (Google) — Authentication, database, hosting
• Google Generative AI (Gemini) — Generation of daily weather quiz content
• Open-Meteo — Weather forecast data
• OpenWeatherMap — Air quality data
• WeatherAPI — Severe weather alerts
• Geoapify — Location geocoding
• GDACS (Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System) — Tropical cyclone tracking data
6. Data Storage and Security
• Your account data is stored securely on Google Firebase servers
• All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted)
• Passwords are never stored in plain text
• We implement industry-standard security measures
7. Data Retention
• Your account data is retained as long as your account is active
• If you delete your account, all your data is permanently deleted within 30 days
• Children's data deleted within 7 days upon parental request
• You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen
8. Children's Privacy
We take children's privacy seriously. In compliance with:
• COPPA (US): We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 without parental consent
• GDPR (EU/UK): We do not process data of children under 16 without parental consent
• DPDP Act 2023 (India): We do not process data of persons under 18 without verifiable parental consent.
If you believe your child has provided personal information without consent, contact us immediately at support.weatherix@gmail.com and we will delete the data within 7 days.
9. Your Rights
• Access — Request a copy of your personal data
• Correction — Request correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion — Delete your account in the Profile screen
• Portability — Request your data in a portable format
Indian users (DPDP Act 2023): Right to access, correct, and erase your personal data within 7 days of request.
EU/UK users (GDPR): Additional rights including right to object to processing.
US users (COPPA): Parents have the right to review, delete, and refuse further collection of their child's data.
10. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and stored on servers in the United States (Google Firebase servers). By using Weatherix, you consent to this transfer.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Weatherix mobile application developed and operated by Manvik Hooda ("I", "me", or "my"). By downloading, installing, or using Weatherix, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

3. Description of Service
Weatherix provides:
• Real-time weather information
• Hourly and daily weather forecasts
• Severe weather alerts
• Air quality information
• Interactive weather maps
Weather data is provided by third-party services. While we strive for accuracy, weather information is inherently uncertain.
4. User Accounts
4.1 Account Creation
• You must provide a valid email address
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
• You must meet age requirements for your region
4.2 Account Security
• Use a strong password with uppercase, lowercase, and at least 6 characters
• Do not share your credentials with anyone
• We are not liable for unauthorized use of your account
4.3 Account Termination
• You may delete your account at any time from the Profile screen
• We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these Terms
• All data permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion
• Children's data deleted within 7 days upon parental request
5. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to hack or reverse engineer the App
• Use automated bots or scripts
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Provide false information
• Violate any applicable local, national, or international laws
6. Weather Information Disclaimer
IMPORTANT: Weather information is for general informational purposes only. Do NOT make critical safety decisions based solely on Weatherix data. Always follow official government and emergency service warnings.
• Weather forecasts may not always be accurate
• We are not responsible for decisions made based on weather data
• In emergencies, always follow official local authority guidance
7. Children's Data Protection
In compliance with applicable laws:
• COPPA (US): We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 without parental consent
• GDPR (EU/UK): We do not process data of children under 16 without parental consent
• DPDP Act 2023 (India): Profiling of minors under 18 is strictly prohibited

8. Location Data
By granting location permission, you consent to Weatherix accessing your device location to provide local weather. Location is not shared with other users or third parties beyond what is necessary.
9. Intellectual Property
• Weatherix and its content are owned by Manvik Hooda
• Protected by copyright and intellectual property laws
• You may not copy, modify, or distribute the App
10. Third-Party Services
By using Weatherix, you also agree to the terms of Firebase, Open-Meteo, OpenWeatherMap, WeatherAPI, and Geoapify.
11. Limitation of Liability
• Weatherix is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service layout structures
• We are not liable for any indirect or consequential damages
• We are not liable for loss or damage resulting from weather events
12. Changes to the App
We reserve the right to modify or discontinue any feature and update these Terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated through the App or by email.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of India. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Indian courts. For international users, we comply with applicable local laws including GDPR, COPPA, and DPDP Act 2023.
