Welcome to Weatherix. This Privacy Policy explains how Manvik Hooda ("I", "me", or "my") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Weatherix mobile application. By using Weatherix, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Age Requirements
Weatherix collects personal data including email address and location. Therefore age restrictions apply based on your region:
• US users (COPPA): Must be 13 or older, or have verifiable parental consent.
• EU users (GDPR): Must be 16 or older, or have verifiable parental consent.
• UK users (UK GDPR): Must be 13 or older, or have verifiable parental consent.
• Indian users (DPDP Act 2023): Must be 18 or older, or have verifiable parental consent.
• Other regions: Must be 16 or older, or have verifiable parental consent.
If you are under the applicable age in your region, you must obtain verifiable parental or guardian consent before using Weatherix. Parents or guardians may contact us at support.weatherix@gmail.com to provide consent or request deletion of their child's data within 7 days.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide:
• Email address — when you create an account.
• Password — stored securely via Firebase Authentication (never stored in plain text).
• Favourite places — cities you save in the app.
• App preferences — settings you choose, stored locally and synced to your account when signed in.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically:
• Location data — with your permission, to show local weather.
• Device and security-verification information — device type and operating system version are processed for diagnostics. App and device integrity information and verification tokens are processed to verify genuine requests and prevent unauthorized access and abuse. On Android, Google processes app metadata, licensing status and device-attestation information for these checks.
• Diagnostic & Crash Data — crash logs, stack traces, device state information, and unique installation identifiers (e.g., Crashlytics UUID) collected automatically to help us fix bugs and improve stability.
• Quiz activity — when you answer a quiz, the quiz date and your selected answer are automatically saved locally and synced to your account when signed in.
2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect:
• We do not collect your real name.
• We do not collect payment information.
• We do not collect contacts or photos.
• We do not sell your data to anyone.
3. How We Use Your Information
• Provide accurate, real-time weather information for your location.
• Save your favourite cities across devices.
• Sync your app settings across devices.
• Protect the app and its services against unauthorized access and abuse.
• Improve the App, monitor performance, and fix crashes.
• Respond to your support requests.
4. Location Data
• Location access — device location is obtained with your permission while you use the app. Home-screen widget may refresh weather in the background using previously saved coordinates, without obtaining a location.
• Approximate location — we support approximate location if you prefer not to share precise location.
• Your choice — location permission is optional; you can use the app by searching cities manually.
• Location processing — Weatherix provides location coordinates to weather and geocoding services only to obtain location-based forecasts, air quality, alerts and place names. Your location is not displayed publicly or shared with other users.
5. Third-Party Services
Weatherix utilizes third-party services to ensure application stability and forecast accuracy. These providers process information needed to deliver their services, including authentication and security-verification tokens where applicable. Their privacy policies explain their data practices:
• Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, crash reporting and app-integrity verification.
• Cloudflare — infrastructure for protected API requests, including processing request metadata and security-verification tokens.
• Google Generative AI (Gemini) — Generation of daily weather quiz content.
• Open-Meteo — Weather forecast data.
• CARTO — Base map tiles for the weather radar map.
• OpenWeatherMap — Air quality data and weather radar map overlays.
• WeatherAPI — Severe weather alerts.
• Geoapify — Location geocoding.
• GDACS (Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System) — Tropical cyclone tracking data.
6. Data Storage and Security
• Your account data is stored securely on Google Firebase servers.
• All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted).
• Passwords are never stored in plain text.
• We implement industry-standard security measures.
7. Data Retention
• Your account data is retained as long as your account is active.
• If you delete your account, all your data is permanently deleted within 7 days.
• Children's data deleted within 7 days upon parental request.
• You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen.
8. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may exercise the following rights:
• Access — request a copy of your personal information.
• Correction — request correction of inaccurate information.
• Deletion — initiate account deletion from the Profile screen or contact support.weatherix@gmail.com. We will delete account-associated personal data under our control within 7 days of receiving a verified deletion request, except where retention is legally required. Provider-managed logs and backups are subject to the relevant providers’ retention policies.
• Portability — request your information in a portable format where applicable.
• Other rights — where applicable, object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a relevant data-protection authority.
9. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and stored on servers in the United States (Google Firebase servers). By using Weatherix, you consent to this transfer.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by updating the "Last updated" date.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Weatherix mobile application developed and operated by Manvik Hooda ("I", "me", or "my"). By downloading, installing, or using Weatherix, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Age Requirements

2. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Weatherix, you confirm that:
• You meet the age requirements for your region.
• You have read and understood these Terms.
• You agree to comply with these Terms.
• If under applicable age, you have verifiable parental or guardian consent.
3. Description of Service
Weatherix provides:
• Real-time weather information.
• Hourly and daily weather forecasts.
• Severe weather alerts.
• Air quality information.
• Daily weather quizzes.
• Interactive weather maps.
• Storm tracking.
• Home-screen widget.
Weather data is provided by third-party services. While we strive for accuracy, weather information is inherently uncertain.
4. User Accounts
4.1 Account Creation
• You must provide a valid email address.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password.
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
• You must meet age requirements for your region.
4.2 Account Security
• Use a strong password with uppercase, lowercase, and at least 6 characters.
• Do not share your credentials with anyone.
4.3 Account Termination
• You may delete your account at any time from the Profile screen.
• We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these Terms.
• All data permanently deleted within 7 days of account deletion.
• Children's data deleted within 7 days upon parental request.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
• Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to hack or reverse engineer the App.
• Use automated bots or scripts.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems.
• Provide false information.
• Violate any applicable local, national, or international laws.
6. Weather Information Disclaimer
IMPORTANT: Weather information is for general informational purposes only. Do NOT make critical safety decisions based solely on Weatherix data. Always follow official government and emergency service warnings.
• Weather forecasts may not always be accurate.
• We are not responsible for decisions made based on weather data.
• In emergencies, always follow official local authority guidance.
7. Location Data
By granting location permission, you consent to Weatherix accessing your device location to provide local weather. Location is not shared with other users or third parties beyond what is necessary.
8. Intellectual Property
• Weatherix’s original software and content belong to Manvik Hooda. Third-party data, maps, software and content remain subject to their respective owners’ rights and licences.
• Protected by copyright and intellectual property laws.
• You may not copy, modify, or distribute the App.
9. Third-Party Services
Weatherix uses third-party services, including Firebase (Google), Google Gemini, Open-Meteo, OpenWeatherMap, WeatherAPI, Geoapify, CARTO, GDACS and Cloudflare. See our Privacy Policy for information about these providers’ data processing.
10. Limitation of Liability
• Weatherix is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind.
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service layout structures.
• We are not liable for any indirect or consequential damages.
• We are not liable for loss or damage resulting from weather events.
11. Changes to the App
We reserve the right to modify or discontinue any feature and update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of changes by updating the "Last updated" date.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without limiting mandatory protections under applicable law. Indian courts shall have jurisdiction over disputes, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
