NFL Trade Deadline: Emmanuel Sanders traded to 49ers as San Francisco loads up for title run
The San Francisco 49ers are still undefeated sitting at 6-0 through week 7 and they are buying in at the trade deadline. They really turned around this team who finished 4-12 last season and looked like they were going to be in a rebuild. With a healthy Jimmy Garapolo and new improved 49ers defense, this team is making a real case for being contenders this year in the NFC and wants to buy in now. The Denver Broncos just traded star wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders to the 49ers for a third and fourth-round pick in, exchange for Sanders and a 5th round pick. The 49ers have a lot of momentum going forward and this trade can only improve their chances of making the playoffs this season.
Packers beat Lions in poorly officiated game
(10/15) The Green Bay Packers won their Monday Night Football matchup with the Detroit Lions after Mason Crosby made a 23 yard field goal. After many questionable officiating calls, the Packers were able to march up the field and score with 2 seconds left. The packers now move into 5-1 on the season, while the Lions continue to be mediocre.
Eagles LB Zac Brown cut after cousins shoing on Sunday
(10/15) Prior to the Eagles vs. Vikings contest this past Sunday, Eagles linebacker Zach Brown decided to talk to trash and give Kirk Cousins some motivation after the Vikings offense came under attack by the media. I do not know why he would talk trash when the Eagles’ secondary is dreadful at the moment, and this may be why Brown was released the following day. Cousins threw for over 300 yards and four touchdowns, highlighted by two deep throws to Stefon Diggs. When Brown was asked questions during the post-game press conference, he was only interested in questions about the game. One thing is for certain, the Eagles need to address their secondary.
Cowboys vs. Packers final score, key takeaways: Aaron Jones has career day to help Green Bay
(10/7) The Dallas Cowboys were shut out in the first half on America's Game of the week against the Green Bay Packers. The Cowboys who started off 3-0 have played teams with losing records and are now 3-2 against teams that lead their divisions. Aaron Rodgers had a good day on the field with Aaron Jones being his main target with over a hundred yards rushing and 4 touchdowns. The Packers look to build on this momentum in the NFC North while the Cowboys are declining in their division.
Cousins, Vikings shut down by banged-up Bears
(9/30) Kirk Cousins was sacked 6 times in this disappointing loss to the Chicago Bears. The Minnesota Vikings were outgained 269-222 in offensive yards and lost to beat up Bears team. The Bears were missing three of its defensive starters and Mitchel Trubisky hurt his shoulder in the first possession of the game. The Vikings had many advantages in this game but still couldn’t get the momentum going. Dalvin Cook who has been unbelievable this year finished with 14 carries for 35 yards and a touchdown. For someone who led rushing yards going into week four, this was rather a disappointing outing for Cook. The Bears defense was too much for this Vikings teams with two fumbles that cost them big. The Chicago Bears are now 3-1 and the Vikings are now 2-2 after this 16-6 Vikings lost.
Jones lead NYG to second straight victory
(9/30) Daniel Jones burst onto the scene and washed away all Giants fan's worries of who their future QB will be. After leading a Saquan Barkley-less offense to an 18-point comeback for the Giants first win of the new season, "Danny Dimes" has solidified himself as the QB1 of the Giants future. While Barley's absence over the next few weeks will take a toll on the Giants, the future is bright in NY.
Mahomes leads Cheifs to 3-0 beating the ravens
(9/24) The Chiefs and Ravens had one of the most anticipated games this Sunday and it did not disappoint. Last season MVP Patrick Mahomes threw for 27-37 for 374 yards in this performance. The Ravens running back Mark Ingram ran for over 100 yards on the field but the ravens passing game struggled. Marquise Brown the newly anticipated rookie receiver was held only to two catches in this performance against the Chiefs defense. Mark Andrews also struggled to get open and because of this Lamar Jackson could have had a better game. As hot as these two teams were only one could win and the Chiefs moved up to 3-0 on the year. We could see these two teams face off again in the playoffs this winter.
Colts beat ATL to to improve to 2-1
(9/24) This week in sports was quite a week for the underdog. In the NFL the Lions, Texans, Saints, and the Giants pulled out big wins in week 3. My colts defeated the Atlanta Falcons 27-24 in a much needed victory in large help to our new QB1 Jacoby Brisset. If our tenacious defense can keep this energy up for weeks to come I think we can be a real threat in the AFC.
Daniel Jones leads 18 point comeback win vs TB
(9/23) Daniel Jones, the New York Giants rookie QB, led the Giants to a comeback win over the Buccaneers in his first career start. Jones, the 6th overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft, was just named starting QB after the team decided to bench longtime QB Eli Manning. Many have been skeptical of Jones, and were not in support of the Giants who selected him over other quarterbacks in the draft, but has since proven himself as a very talented player. Jones finished with 336 yards and 4 total touchdowns in the 32-31 win. We can see if Jones continues to keep his hot streak alive next week when the Giants face divisional rival Washington Redskins.
Ravens Lamar JAckson off to hot start
(9/16) Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson is off to a hot start for the 2019-20 NFL season. Jackson started the season with a stellar performance in a 59-10 win over the Miami Dolphins, finishing with 324 yards and 5 touchdowns, and becoming the youngest player in NFL history with a perfect passer rating of 158.3. A week later he kept his hit streak alive, finishing with 272 yards and and 2 touchdowns in a 23-17 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Let’s see if the former Heisman winner can keep his stellar play alive next week when the Ravens take on reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Broncos lose on last second feild goal to bears
(9/16) The Chicago Bears vs the Denver Broncos was a defensive battle that came down to the final minute to decide the winner. The score was 13-6 Bears with Joe Flacco attempting to put a touchdown in the endzone. He succeeded by throwing to Emmanuel Sanders to put the score at 13-12 Bears lead. The Broncos decided to go for a 2-point conversion but a delay of the game made them rethink that decision. They were now going to kick an extra point, but when the kick was off it was no good, however, the Bears where offsides during that kick and a flag were drawn. The Broncos had another shot at going for a 2 point-conversion and this time they got it. With 30 seconds on the clock, they were sure to win, until Mitchel Trubisky made a great throw to his receiver to get within field goal range with one second on the clock. The Bears lined up for the field goal and this time it wasn't a double doink! It went right down the middle and the Bears came out on top 16-14 over the Denver Broncos.
Union beat The Montreal Ipmact 3-0
The Philadelphia Union took on the Montreal Impact on Saturday, April 20 under a nice partly cloudy forecast in Chester. Before the match, the Impact were in fourth place in the Eastern Conference withthe Union right behind them in fifth place. Marco Fabian sat this one out as he injured himself against LA Galaxy, with Jamiro Monteiro playing in the CAM position. Veteran centreback Aurelien Collin made his first start for the Union as well. The Union won in dominating fashion 3-0 behind goals from striker Cory Burke, Monterio, and captain Alejandro Bedoya. Haris Medunjanin sat in the defensive midfield role and started things from the back with his long passing. Kai Wagner sadly received a red card near the 90 the minute after a slide tackle that caught the opposing player’s ankle. The Union flip-flopped positions with Montreal, now sitting in fourth place. They have won four out of their last five games, really looking like a solid squad to contend in the East this year.

Sports Editor - The Quad
(4/14) During this offseason the eagles have made some moves such as making trades, picking players in free agency and restructuring current players contracts. The nfl draft is approaching and the middle linebacker role is still not fulfilled now that Jordan Hicks has moved to the Arizona Cardinals. Every other position on defense is basically solidified except the linebacker corp. Fans seem to think the Eagles will draft a running back with the 25th overall pick in the first round but they have a good rotation of guys already. With less than two weeks away from the draft Philadelphia has done some scouting of their own. Nigel Bradham holds the starting job at strongside linebacker but he is awaiting his partner in the linebacker duo. There are other groups of guys on the roster that are in competition for that starting role but most of them are special team aces. The guys who are most likely to land the starting roles next to Bradham are Nate Gerry or Kamu Grugier-Hill. Hopefully the Eagles can land a stud linebacker before the 2019 season.
(3/25) Rob Gronkowski announced on Sunday evening that he is retiring from the National Football League. Approaching 30 years old, Gronk may go down as the tight end professional football has ever seen, as he is retiring with 521 receptions, 7,861 receiving yards, 79 touchdowns, five pro-bowl appearances, and three championships. The Patriots are left with a hole in their offensive line, but there should be no problem replacing him, as somebody always steps up for New England when called upon.
Legendary NFL tight end, Rob Gronkowski retires from the NFL today. Gronkowski spent his whole career with the New England Patriots. He was one of the most dominant players of this ear. Whenever he was on the field he was always a threat. Gronk won 3 Super Bowls with the Patriots. He will go down as one of the greatest ever at his position.
eagles resign de vinny curry
(3/23) Defensive End Vinny Curry has resigned with Philadelphia Eagles and on a one year deal that is worth 2.5 million dollars. Before he left to go play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Curry had a three year contract worth 23 million but his time in Florida was cut short due to injury. The former super bowl champion made claims that the New York Giants offered him more money than Philly but he made it clear that it wasn’t about the money. Curry is happy to be back with philadelphia eagles organization and is hoping he can contribute to another possible super bowl run. Vinny was drafted back in 2012 alongside fellow defensemen Fletcher Cox and has developed many relationships not just on the field but off the field as well. He was cut in 2018 after the historical Super Bowl season and took his talents to Tampa but he is back and feeling refreshed. The defensive end is now 30 years old and has made it simple that it is not about the money but his love for team and the love of the sport. Hopefully we will see him back in number 75 this upcoming season.
colts big signing
(3/22) The colts began this offseason with an obvious need for a pass rusher. Well, this week the team announced that they have signed OLB Justin Houston. He formerly played for the Chiefs in 2018, tallying a stellar nine sacks. The Chiefs released Houston just before the start of free agency and he now goes to a team who is looking to take the next step this year.
jaguars expected to sign foles
(3/3) After the Eagles couldn’t work out a good trade, they decided to not use the franchise tag on Nick Foles either making him a free agent. The team that was said to be the most interested in Foles was the Jacksonville Jaguars, and it looks like they’ll get their guy. The former Super Bowl MVP will probably make a lot of money when he signs with Jacksonville and will look to do what he did for the Eagles for the Jaguars.
eagles extend graham and kelce
(3/3) Only a day after extending DE, Brandon Graham, to a 3-year $40 million deal, the Eagles handed out another contract to their Pro-Bowl center, Jason Kelce. Kelce received a 1-year extension worth $11 million onto his existing contract. This will make Kelce the highest-paid center in the NFL. Both players will remain in the city of Philadelphia until at least 2021, pending any other extensions. Howie Roseman continues to show off his incredible negotiation skills as he locks up two key Eagles players for a couple more years.
graham gets extended
(3/2) The longest-tenured member of the defense for the Eagles will stay in Philadelphia for another three years. The Eagles just agreed on a three-year extension to Brandon Graham's contract, which will keep him in Philadelphia until the 2021 season. It’s great to see three more years of a great player to this organization especially with his ability to come up on big plays in the postseason. In Super Bowl 52 Brandon Graham forced a fumble on Tom Brady in the 4th quarter to turn the ball over which later became one of the greatest defensive plays in Eagles history. Graham is also not slowing down on his career either, in 2017 he had a career-high of 9.5 sacks and in 2018 he had a career-high of 40 quarterback pressures and hits. Brandon Graham could have gone to another team and made a lot more money with that kind of resume, but he decided that he would rather keep his family in the city he helped bring a championship to.
eagles release maragos
(2/24) After playing four seasons with Philadelphia Eagles the organization has decided to move on from the veteran safety/special teamer. The 32 year old recorded 76 tackles in 53 games during his tenure as an Eagle. Maragos only played 25 percent of the defensive snaps but most of his contributions came on special teams. He happened to be one of the captains on the special teams unit and was highly respected by his coaching staff and fellow teammates. His first injury came back in the historical 2017 season in week 6 against the Carolina Panthers. Even though he was not capable of playing in the rest of the season he would show his support from the sideline which helped lead the team to their first win in franchise history. The crafty vet tore his acl and pcl and would have to sit out the whole 2018 season. After being released by the Eagles organization it has yet to be determined if he will continue his NFL career.
nfl (early) power rankings
(2/5) Of course, the NFL is already looking to next season to bring some off-season hype for the next four to five months. Starting with the “way-to-early” power rankings. The Super Bowl champion Patriots sit at number four on the list, while the runner up L.A. Rams sit at number one. Two exciting offenses in the New Orleans Saints (3) and the Kansas City Chiefs (2) sit within the top 5. Next year will be an interesting year in the NFL, to say the least.
patriots win... again
(2/4) Patriots win their 6th Super Bowl behind a strong performance from Belichick’s defense and Julian Edleman’s strong MVP performance. Jared Goff and the LA Rams offense failed to move the ball at all yesterday which resulted in only three points offensively. We will see the LA Rams in the Super Bowl again sometime soon but their debut yesterday was very lackluster and disappointing. As for Brady, this makes him one of the greatest winners in profession sports history.
stay off the bottle
(12/11) The Philadelphia Eagles played the Dallas Cowboys sunday afternoon for the lead in the NFC East Division. The Eagles were defeated in overtime with a score of 23-29 with Amari Cooper who had over 200 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns. However the Eagles locker room had a lot to say about the officiating during this game. On the opening kick off the Cowboys fumbled the ball into a an Eagles recovery but the ball stayed with Dallas. This terrible call cost the Eagles points in a close game, along with Dallas Goederts 80 yard run that was called back for “offensive interference.” This was another terrible officiating mistake that cost the Eagles time on the clock and points. The Eagles didn't play their best game but the referees got the win for Dallas in America's Game of the Week.
(12/7) New York Jets' linebacker Darron Lee has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse. Lee will miss the rest of the season for the Jets, being eligible just one day after the final game of the season against the Patriots. This is a huge loss for the Jets who will likely finish the season without a playoff berth.
eagles postseason hopes stay alive
(12/2) The Eagles have a had a very disappointing season to date but there is still hope for them to make the playoffs. A must win game faces them in a Monday Night Football showdown with division rival Washington Redskins. If they are able to beat the Redskins Monday the following week’s matchup against another division rival, the Dallas Cowboys, will be for first place in the NFC East. The remaining schedule is not easy for the birds but the season is far from over.
(11/25) Phillip Rivers set 2 different records on Sunday in LA. In an impressive 45-10 win over the Cardinals, Rivers set the record for most straight completions, and most completions in a game. Rivers completed his first 25 straight throws, breaking the record of 22. Rivers only threw one incomplete pass and finished 28/29 on the day. Rivers has been surging with the Chargers, asserting himself as a potential MVP candidate as the Chargers improve to 8-3.
nfl will go to mexico city
(11/19) After moving the Rams vs. Chiefs game from Mexico City to Los Angeles, the NFL has announced that it will return to Estadio Azteca in the 2019 season. The game between the Rams and Chiefs was moved due to poor field conditions in the stadium. This matchup is fun to see no matter where it is, but fans are upset, and rightfully so, that it won't take place in Mexico City.
no more fitz-magic
(11/12) The Washington Redskins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers squared off sunday at 1pm. Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for over 400 yards, but couldn't connect in the end zone. The Buccaneers had 3 turnover and were within the 25 yard line 5 times but couldn't score a touchdown. I guess the “Fitz Magic” has run out this season. The Washington Redskins are now 6-3 and the Buccaneers move to 3-6 despite being 2-0 at the beginning of the season.

rams perfect season is over
(11/4) The Rams and Saints went head to head sunday afternoon in New Orleans. It was high scoring game that kept viewers on the edge of their seats. The Rams put up a good fight and were down 17-35 at halftime. They were able to tie it up 35-35 in the fourth quarter but fell short when the Saints took a ten point lead and ran out the clock. The Saints came out on top 45-35 and improved their record to 7-1 while the Rams are now 8-1. The Los Angeles Rams were the last undefeated team in the NFL so their perfect season is over. These two teams are the best in the NFC mid way through the season, and this may be a preview for the NFC championship in January.
tate to the birds
(11/3) The Philadelphia Eagles acquired veteran wide receiver Golden Tate just hours before the trade deadline earlier this week. Many Philadelphia Eagles are fans are excited for his arrival here with the team, but will he be an Eagle next year? Tate is finishing a five-year, $31 million deal…making him the 38th highest paid wide receiver in the NFL.

eagles get much needed win in london
(10/29) The Eagles traveled across the pond to London this week to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. In a crucial game for both teams that were desperate for a win, it was the Eagles who prevailed with a 24-18 victory. After turning the ball over on the team’s first two possessions Carson Wentz settled in and threw for 286 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Eagles were finally able to get a running game going too. Josh Adams carried the 9 times for 61 yards leading all rushers in the game. The Eagles sit at second place in the NFC East with a record of 4-4 heading into the bye week.
Steelers Hopeful to trade Le’veon Bell by Deadline
(10/29) The trade deadline for the NFL comes down to this tuesday and the Pittsburg are hoping to cash out big. With star running back from last season Le’veon Bell ranked as the top running back in the NFL, teams are willing to pay a lot for his price. Le’veon Bell refused a franchise tag from his own team and gave an ultimatum to the Pittsburgh Steelers to either pay him, or trade him. He hasn’t played in a single game this season wants out of Pittsburgh. The Philadelphia Eagles running back Jay Ajayi has torn his acl and will be out for the remainder of this NFL season. Le’veon Bell could be the perfect fit to get this Eagles team rolling again.
brees could make history again
(10/18) On Sunday Drew Brees aims for another slot in the history books. With a win against the Baltimore Ravens, Brees will cement himself as one of the all-time greats. He would become only the third QB in NFL history to get a win against all 32 NFL teams. Brees would be in legendary company with the only two guys to do it, so far, being Peyton Manning and Brett Favre. If Brees is able to get the win on Sunday against the Ravens, it's hard not to consider him to be one of the greatest QB's of all time.
WENTZ LEADS EAGLES TO A WIN OVER GIANTS
(10/14) In a must win game, Carson Wentz stepped up and help spark a win for the now 3-3 birds. Coming off back to back losses against the Titans and Vikings the previous two weeks, the leader of this team knew it was time to get a statement win against the Giants in East Rutherford. And a statement was made the Eagles trounced the Giants by a score 34-13. Wentz was 26-36 for 278 yards and 3 touchdowns. The team looked to be back and the best they’ve looked all season. This win will hopefully give the team a much needed confidence boost for the coming weeks with a lot of tough opponents coming up.
Eifert's horrifying injury
(9/30) In the beginning of the third quarter of Sunday's game between the Bengals and Falcons, Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert recieved a short pass from QB Andy Dalton. After receiving the pass, Eifert was quickly brought down by Falcons linebacker, De'Vondre Campbell. As he was tackled, Eifert's ankle was twisted in a violent manner, seriously injuring it. Eifert was carted off of the field by medical staff. The video is available in the article, but I recommend watching only if you think you can handle it. It's gruesome.
Mariota looks to return in wk4
(9/27) Titans QB Marcus Mariota looks to return to face the Eagles on Sunday 9/30 for the first time since his injury in Week 1. Mariota has been suffering from a pinched nerve in his elbow, and only regained feeling in his fingers in Week 3. With Mariota's return, the Titans look to run their full offense and improve to a 3-1 record against the defending Super Bowl champs.
