Sixers top lakers at home
The Sixers beat the Los Angeles Lakers in impressive fashion by a score of 108-91 on Saturday. They were led by Ben Simmons, who posted a monstrous stat line of 28 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists on 80% shooting from the floor. Simmons has stepped up in the absence of all-star center Joel Embiid, who is still recovering from a hand injury sustained in early January. Sixers fans have hoped for Simmons to play a more aggressive style of basketball, to which he has responded by averaging a strong 20 points per game since Embiid’s injury. He and rookie Matisse Thybulle stifled LA on the defensive end, combining for 9 steals. With the victory, the team ties Milwaukee for the best home record in the Eastern Conference at 21-2 and currently sit just under 3 games behind second seed in the East.
Philles beat MArlins, lead the nl east
The Phillies took on the Marlins on April 26, 2019 inside the friendly confines of Citizens Bank Park. Pitcher Jerad Eickhoff returned to the form he had a few seasons ago, as he pitched seven innings allowing only two hits while striking out six batters. The Phillies had a hard time manufacturing runs, but at least unlike the Marlins they managed a few. J.T. Realmuto and Maikel Franco both had solo home runs early in the ballgame. The fans were woken up in the bottom of the 8th inning when Bryce Harper smashed a two-run home run into the second deck to insure the lead a bit. The Phillies continue to be right in the thick of it in the division as the Braves, Nationals, and Mets all are sitting at around the same record.
Top Toronto prospect Guerrero jr. makes debut
Finally,…Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is finally making his debut for the Toronto Blue Jays this Friday against the Oakland Athletics. Guerrero has been dealing injuries so far this year. He basically missed all of spring training with a strained oblique muscle. But lately he’s been healthier and ready for his big-league call-up. He’s the number one prospect in baseball. It’s exciting for not only Blue Jays fans, but for baseball fans around the world.
Sixers Take 3-1 Series
(4/21) The Sixers gutted out a come from behind win in Game 4 of their series against the Nets. There was a pushing and shoving match hallway through the third quarter, after Joel Embiid fouled Nets’ center Jarrett Allen. Jared Dudley, wannabe tough guy, shoved Embiid after the hard foul that caused Jimmy Butler and other Sixers and Nets players to start shoving each other as well. After the scuffle and things were separated the refs reviewed it all and ended up ejecting Dudley and Butler out of the game. The Sixers then took over coming from behind in the fourth quarter to win. A late three from the threegional manager, Mike Scott, helped lead the Sixers to a huge win. Game 5 will be played Tuesday night in South Philly at the Wells Fargo Center where the Sixers will look to end the series and advance to the next round.
sixers lose game 1
(4/14) The Sixers didn’t get into a hot start in game 1 of the first round in the playoffs. They suffered a 111-102 defeat to the Brooklyn Nets in Saturday’s opening game. Jimmy Butler seemed to be the only Sixer who showed up to play, leading the team in scoring with 36 points. The Sixers collectively had a terrible night shooting the ball and playing defense. Monday night’s game has turned into a must win for them. If the Sixers want to move on and make a run in these playoffs they’re going to need a lot more from everybody. The Sixers didn’t look like they were ready for Game 1 and it clearly showed. They will look to bounce back and get a big win Monday night at the Wells Fargo Center.
sixers rd1 predictions
(4/12) It’s official, the Sixers have three seed locked up and are set to play the Brooklyn Nets in the first round. Many fans were worried of the possibility of the Sixers facing the Nets during the final weeks of the season, as the possible opponent changed like a revolving door. The Pistons could’ve been our first round opponent, possibly the Hornets as well. The Sixers better hope Embiid is back and healthy, or the first round could be a problem. Spencer Dinwiddie, Caris LeVert and budding star D’Angelo Russell are all dangerous guards, and the Sixers have had problems with guards scoring against them. Others think that the Sixers overall talent would win out in a series in the long run, but personally I know I do not want a long first round series. I predict the Sixers will win in five games, hopefully it does not get scary and go 7 games.
sixers get 50 back to back
The Philadelphia 76ers are headed back to the playoffs for their second straight year. They now have back to back 50 win seasons and are currently one win away from clinching the three seed in the eastern conference. Momentum is rising for this team as this is an impressive accomplishment. With two blockbuster trades for Tobias Harris and Jimmy Butler, on paper, this was a 50 win team. If we look back on the past of the 76ers, 50 wins is a rare thing to see. Allen Iverson won 43 games before going to the NBA Finals, and 49 games the year before that. With playoffs coming up in the next few weeks the 76ers should be a fun team to watch.
sixers need a spark
(4/7) The Sixers are only three games away from the playoffs, but have not been playing with any resemblance of playoff intensity. They have lost their last three games, and a total of five out of their last seven. To make matters a little more worrisome, there have been loses to non-playoff teams such as the Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks. The Sixers still have not definitively clinched the third seed and need two wins out of their next three games to do so. Their upcoming opponent is the Chicago Bulls, a team that has completely tanked and no where near playoffs. The Sixers need to go out and dominate them, the Bull’s primary scoring options right now are Robin Lopez and a newcomer named Walter Lemon Jr. Come on Sixers, go into the playoffs scorching hot.
76ers sign fa greg monroe
(4/6) The Philadelphia 76ers announced that they’ve signed center Greg Monroe who was formally playing on a 10-day contract for the Boston Celtics. Before coming to the Sixers Monroe played 40 games and started only twice during the 2018-2019 season. He spent some time with the Toronto Raptors for majority of the season and had short stint with the Celtics up in Boston. During this season he has averaged about 4.7 points and 4.0 rebounds, playing about 10 minutes a games. He is now in his ninth season and has played for five different teams before coming to Philly. Monroe has played a total of 629 games during his career in the NBA averaging about 13.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.1 assist and 1.1 assist. He was selected as the 7th overall pick back in the 2010 NBA Draft and spent most of his time with the Detroit Pistons before becoming a journeyman. Monroe will sporting No. 55 when he makes his debut for the Sixers this season.
zhaire smith nba debut
(3/29) The rookie played a few games with the Delaware Blue Coats which happen to be affiliates of the Philadelphia 76ers and ended his time there on a decent note. During his time in the G-league Smith recorded two back to back games in double digits with 12 points against the Maine Red Claws and a career high of 19 points against the Long Island Nets. In his professional basketball against the Orlando Magic Smith came in during the last couple minutes of the game and hit his first 3 pointer and his first score in an NBA game. Fellow rookie Jonah Bolden also spent some time with the Blue Coats back in December of 2018. While playing in the G-League the big man averaged about 13.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.5 assist and 1.5 steals. At the end of the Orlando Magic game he two came in at the end of regulation to display some of his skills. Once the 76ers made a trade for Boban Marjanovic it was clear that Bolden had to take a back seat to the 7 foot 4 giant from Europe. Both rookies might see minimal minutes for the rest of the season.

tennessee holds off iowa to advance sweet 16
(3/25) Tennesee and Iowa squared off Sunday afternoon for a ticket to the sweet 16. It looked as though Tennessee was running away with the game when at one point were up by 25 points. However, momentum began building for the number 10 seed Iowa as they tried to claw their way back into the game. With the final minute in regulation, it was a tie game of 71-71 and Tennesse had the ball with one last shot. They missed the three-point play but still had a chance to win in overtime. Iowa ran out of gas for the 5 minutes of OT as Tennesse held off what would have been a huge upset in the NCAA tournament. Tennessee is now advancing to the Sweet 16 but they still have a long way to go to get a NCAA championship.
sixers beat pacers, move to 3rd in east
(3/10) In Embiid’s return, he led the way to a 76ers victory with a 33 point and 12 rebound performance in only 28 minutes. After this win, Philly jumped the Indiana Pacers in the eastern conference standings and added to their win total making them 42-25. The boost of the superstar big man Embiid and double figuring scoring from Simmons, Harris, and Butler. The sixers play next Tuesday against the Cleveland Cavilers.
(3/10) Embiid is still sidelined with a knee injury since playing in All-Star game in Charlotte, North Carolina. The seven footer is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Indiana Pacers. Based on the cat scan that was giving to Embiid, the test result came back negative which revealed that no long term damage was done. When the sixers drafted him back in 2014 he was already dealing with a broken foot which caused him miss the almost the first two seasons of his NBA career. His minutes in a game is on average about 33 minutes per game and he is averaging 27 points and 13 rebounds. His name has definitely been in the MVP talks. The Sixers are now on a two game losing streak and waiting for their star center to make his return. Hopefully he comes back sooner rather than later so that Philadelphia can make run in this upcoming playoffs.

(3/4) The NBA Power Rankings in Week 21 included a multitude of teams in the West Conference rising higher on the list. It includes the Trail Blazers moving up in the top 5, the Rockets moving up to number 6, Utah moving two spots up to 7th , and the Clippers moving up to number 10. Notables: Sixers move up to number 8, OKC drops down to ninth and the Pacers have moved outside the top 10 to the 11 spot.

embiid sits again
(3/2) The 76ers will play the Warriors for a second time this season in Philadelphia but it will be without the help of their star center Joel Embiid. He has been sidelined since the all-star game in Charlotte, North Carolina. His knee injury is still being evaluated which puts the team in a difficult position. The Sixers have been 3-1 since the big man has going down but the young unit has found a way to remain successful. His backup Boban Marjanovic has also missed some key time during these last couple of games. He has been out with a minor knee injury as well so the Sixers have to make adjustments.. The Philadelphia 76ers will host the Golden State Warriors Saturday night @ 8:30pm eastern standard time. Hopefully the twin towers make their way back before the playoff run.
sixers hold off pelicans
(2/25) The Sixers pulled off the win by one-point Monday night against the Pelicans. It was close fought game and unfortunately, Boban Marjanovic hurt his right knee on a defensive play. However, there were some positives from the night with Tobias Harris scoring the most points as Sixer with 29 points. Ben Simmons also added 14 points and 12 rebounds. Jimmy Butler came up big in the 4th quarter with a great block to seal the game on a three-point play to let the clock expire. Sixers came out on top on this one and we shall see where the momentum takes us further into the remaining season.
nba potential rule changes
(2/23) The National Basketball Players Association has sent the League a proposal of lowering the minimum age for entering the NBA Draft from 19 to 18. This was discussed at a meeting in the Bahamas earlier this week. Obviously, this debate heats up immediately after Duke University’s young star, Zion Williamson, went down with a knee injury a few days ago against their rival North Carolina. We’ll see exactly what the league plans to do in the near future.
sixers shine at the all star game
(2/19) Another All-Star game has passed by and in 2019 the Philadelphia 76ers had two All Stars on the roster. Joel Embiid made the starting lineup for team Lebron and Ben Simmons was a reserve for team Giannis. It was strange seeing Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid on separate teams, but it was still a great game to watch. They both had 10 points to their name and put on a solid performance. They made 76ers fans everywhere proud of their performances on one of the biggest stages of the year. Hopefully there will be many more All-Star game to come for Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.
all-star weekend recap
(2/18) Over the past weekend, thousands of fans and millions around the world witnessed two future NBA Hall of Famers in the NBA All-Star Game for the last time. Three- time champion Dwyane Wade and one- time champion Dirk Nowitzki will both be retiring at the end of the 2019-2020 season and All-Star weekend was one of the pit-stops they had to make on their way out the door. All season, both have been getting much recognition when they travel to other team arenas. Charlotte, where All-Star weekend was hosted, was no different.
nba all-star weekend
(2/18) This weekend is highlighted with exciting dunks, unbelievable shots, and a lot of talent. It’s all-star weekend for the NBA. Team Giannis vs Team LeBron, both star studded lineups will compete in the all-star game. Saturday night consisted of the 3-Point Competition, and the Slam Dunk Contest. Fans look forward to watching their favorite players go up against each other in a classic pickup game of the best players in the world.
markelle fultz traded
(2/12) Maybe a fresh start is what’s needed for the number one overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Second year player Markelle Fultz was traded away from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Orlando Magic just before the trade deadline. The Sixers receive Jonathon Simmons, a first round pick from the Oklahoma City Thunder and a second round pick via the Cleveland Cavaliers. After dealing with injuries and struggling to find his shot, Fultz never got the chance to show the dynamic player he truly is. After just playing in 33 games for the Sixers, Fultz managed to put up averages of 7.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 41.4-percent from the floor.
sixers smoke lakers
(2/10) The 76ers defeated the LA Lakers, 143-120, in a nationally broadcasted game in an offensive showing. Joel Embiid lead the way for Philly with 37 pts and 14 reb in a dominate performance. In his 2nd game, Tobias Harris dropped 22 pts 6 reb and 6 ast. This new look 76ers team just two games in has clicked very well together bringing a dominant starting five and more depth on the bench with the additions of Boban Marjanović, Mike Scott, James Ennis and Jonathon Simmons. It may be early but this new unit has instilled a lot of confidence in the 76er fan base on being able to make a deep run in the post season.
(2/10) The Sixers recently shook up the league and made a statement to the Eastern Conference, as Elton Brand decided to deal Mike Muscala, Wilson Chandler, promising Landry Shamet and multiple first and second round picks. The return for this haul has Sixers fans excited, as budding all-star talent Tobias Harris and his buddy Boban Marjanovic come over from the Clippers, along with Mike Scott. Another trade made was sending 1 st overall pick Markelle Fultz to Orlando for a first round pick, second round pick and Jonathan Simmons. Brett Browqn, coach of the Sixers, stated “I’d be lying if I didn’t feel sad… I never got a chace to coach him… I was pleased for him that he had a new start, a fresh start.” With all of these additions and talent, eyes are now on Brett Brown.
(2/10) Before Thursday’s trade deadline the Sixers made some much needed moves. Sixers’ GM, Elton Brand, traded for another upcoming star in the NBA, Tobias Harris. This was a huge move adding another star to the already star studded lineup of the Sixers. Other moves were made on Thursday for some bench pieces to add to our depth as well. We’ll see if these moves will pay off for them throughout the season, as the Sixers look to make a deep run in the playoffs.
lakers improved deal for davis
(2/5) The Los Angeles Lakers have come up with a new package of players they can trade in order to acquire power forward Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans. The trade consist of young players such as Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma and Brandon Ingram. The Lakers owner Erving “Magic” Johnson is also willing to give New Orleans future draft picks and salary cap reassurance. The Lakers have to make the deal happen before the trade deadline which is this thursday at 3pm eastern standard time. Sources say that Davis would prefer to go to the Los Angeles Lakers if he were to be Traded. Other teams such as Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Clippers are among other teams who are on this list. Whichever team lands Davis will be truly grateful.
Reflections from the Road
(1/30) The 76ers have been on the road during their last four games and are now heading to Oracle Arena to face-off against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night. During nine day span of their road trip the Sixers organization has put together a series of short stories of the players and their experiences while on the West Coast. With the 33rd consecutive win the small forward Mike Muscala came of the bench for the 76ers and gave them some productive minutes which propelled them over the Los Angeles Lakers. The Sixers have a tradition in which the player of the game rings the small liberty bell in the locker room after a huge win. There will be more of these celebrations to come if the Sixers continue to stay on the right path to greatness.
dwayne vs lebron one more time
(12/10) In 2003, two rookies came into the NBA and took the league by storm. Their names, Lebron James and Dwyane Wade. 15 years later, six NBA Champions, multiple Gold medals, over 50,000 points and many more have been accomplished by the two. On Monday, December 10th, the two best friends will face off for the last time. After this season, three time champion Dwyane Wade has decided to hang his jersey up. The final match up will take place in the Staples Center when the Miami Heat visit with a tip off at 10:30pm.

green still out
(12/7) Golden State Warriors' forward Draymond Green has been ruled out for his 11th straight game. Green has been sidelined with a sprained right toe. He is expected to play Monday, 12/10 against the Timberwolves.
nba mvp race
(12/3) The latest MVP rankings from NBA.com does not come with too many surprises. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, and LeBron James headline the top three in the race. Not many would think before the start of the season that LA Clippers forward Tobias Harris would be ranked anywhere near the top ten. He has been the biggest reason for the 15-6 Clippers to be atop the Western Conference Standings, averaging nearly 22 points and 9 rebounds a game. It’s a long year, but the Clippers surely are looking good with Harris leading the way.
suns interested in fultz
(12/3) The Markelle Fultz situation has only gotten worse over this season with him averaging roughly 8 points per game. Fultz coming off of a shoulder injury from last year has affected his physical and mental toughness to play the game. Now there is a market for the former #1 overall pick and the Phoenix Suns are interested. The Cleveland Cavs were also reportedly interested before trading Kyle Korver to the Utah Jazz. Now that the Cavs have no more trading pieces the Suns now have a better likelihood of landing Fultz, if the Sixers decide to deal him to another team.
curry back soon
(11/25) Golden State Warriors' lead star, Stephen Curry, looks to be back late next week. Despite being in a car accident on Friday, Curry's groin injury continues to improve and he looks close to a return. Curry has missed 9 games already and is expected to miss at least a few more. His injury occured back on Nov. 8th vs Milwaukee. Hopefully Curry is back sooner rather than later, and is able to help the Warriors move towards a 3rd straight NBA Championship.
lebron's moving up
(11/19) On Wednesday night against Portland, LeBron James passed Wilt Chamberlain on the all-time points list. LeBron now sits 5th, with 31,420 points. The only people ahead of him are; Michael Jordan (32,292), Kobe Bryant (33,643), Karl Malone (36,928), and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387). LeBron has been steadily producing for years now, but he still has a ways to go before he catches Abdul-Jabbar.
lopez goes off
(11/12) Milwaukee Bucks’ center Brook Lopez had himself a career night in Denver with a win over the Nuggets. Lopez scored 28 points and knocked down a career high eight three-pointers in the team’s first win in Denver for the first time since 2010. Lopez, a 38% percent 3-point shooter on the season, shot an impressive 62% from three on the night, going 8-13 from behind.
sixers trade for jimmy butler
(11/11) On Saturday afternoon the Sixers made a much needed move to acquire a superstar. The Sixers have been off to a slow start to the season, and were looking to get another piece to the puzzle. When Saturday came around they did just that. The sixers traded fan favorites Dario Saric and Robert Covington for Minnesota Timberwolves’ Jimmy Butler. Butler had been in disputes with the Timberwolves front office for a while now and has been wanting out of Minnesota. The Sixers now have the big 3 they’ve been wanting with Embiid, Simmons, and now Butler.
embiid owns drummond
(11/4) Dating back to last year Joel Embiid and Andre Drummond have had some very interesting matchups. When the two meet head to head it is going to be entertaining. In recent games Embiid has dominated the matchups. He has gone as far as to saying he “owns a lot of real estate in Drummond’s head”. On Saturday the two met in Philadelphia for another intense and entertaining game. Embiid dominated once again.
(11/1) Cleveland Cavaliers forward, Kevin Love, expected to miss weeks due to a toe injury. Love says that the injury has been bothering him since preseason, and has now become too painful to handle. When visiting a specialist in New York, he was told to rest and that there is no clear prediction on when he can return. The loss of Love could really hurt the Cavs, who are 1-6 to start the season and have already fired their head coach.
cavs "bid adieu" to lue
(10/29) The Cleveland Cavaliers have blessed the city of Cleveland over the past four years by advancing to the NBA finals four straight times and winning their first NBA title in over 50 years. Everybody will say it’s because they had four-time league MVP and three-time Finals MVP, LeBron James. Maybe they’re right. It’s been a terrible start for the Cavaliers in their second, “post-LeBron” era. Currently at 0-6, the Cavs need an answer immediately. Maybe it’ll come in the form of a new coach as the team fired their current head coach Tyronn Lue. Lue has had the position for four years and following the worst start for the organization since the 1995-96 season, both sides will be looking their separate ways. Assistant coach Larry Drew will serve as interim head coach until Cleveland can get everything under control.
(10/22) Three NBA players will be serving multiple game suspensions following a physical altercation in a game that occurred between the Houston Rockets and the Los Angeles Lakers Saturday night on October 20th. The fight started with Chris Paul of the Rockets and Rajon Rondo of the Lakers. Coming in to protect his teammate was Brandon Ingram who also threw some punches. Ingram will be suspended four games, Rondo will be suspended three and Paul will be out for two games. Suspensions are effective starting with the teams’ next game and the players will not be paid for the games missed.
During Saturday night’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets, Chris Paul, and Rajon Rondo got in a shoving match after a foul call. After punches were thrown between the two, Brandon Ingram jumped into the fight and threw a couple jabs as well. The NBA reviewed footage of the fight and decided to suspend Ingram four games, Rondo three games, and Paul two games.
melo on the bench
(10/20) Not one NBA fan could have ever imagined that Carmelo Anthony would ever have to come off of the bench in a game. He’s been one of the game’s biggest superstars since coming into the league in the early 2000’s. Melo says he’ll do whatever it takes for the team to win at this point, but says it’s going to be a challenge for him mentally.
four pelicans score 20+ points in opener
(10/18) In the season opener for the New Orleans Pelicans, four different players scored at least 20 points. Anthony Davis, 32, Nikola Mirotic, 30, Julius Randle, 25, and E'Twaun Moore, 21. The Pelicans won the game by a score of 131-112 over the Houston Rockets, who were actually favored to win the game. If the Pelicans can replicate this performance throughout the season they could be a big threat in the West.
(10/14) In yet another summer social media frenzy Saturday morning. This time the front office got lucky but rather the father of forward Mike Muscala didn’t. Sixers newly acclaimed General Manager Elton Brand found himself releasing a statement apologizing on behalf of the team for “inappropriate and offensive social media posts from Bob Muscala,” Muscala’s father was tweeting off a burner account “MuskieBobber”. Where he recently tweeted racist comments on Jimmy Butler and the Minnesota Timberwolves. It’s Forward Mike Muscala first year on the time and was applauded for his professionalism during the situation. The account has since been deleted. The Sixers are on the verge of being associated with consistent negative social media Let’s leave the social media antics to the veteran troller, “The Process” Joel Embid.
pelicans sign brandon mccoy
(9/30) Free agent center, Brandon McCoy, has signed with the New Orleans Pelicans. The 7 footer went undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft. He attended only 1 year at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. McCoy will have to put on his best performances in preseason to have a shot at the opening night roster on October 17th.
Kyrie irving: "my knee feels great"
(9/27) After ending his season early last April, Celtics guard Kyrie Irving underwent multiple surgeries on his left knee. After months of rehab and rest, he spent three weeks playing in Jamal Crawford's Summer League as a way to regain his skills on the court. With the Celtics coming off an impressive season, where they were eliminated by the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals, they look to go deeper into the playoffs with one of their star players back in the lineup.
