Saibra

Abandoned as a baby, Saibra lived all her childhood in an orphanage. The doctors discovered her mutation early, for which they gave her the name Xen, but they did not expect it to show in such an extreme way.

Growing up wasn't easy when your body transformed with every touch. Even though small at first, the changes grew progressively bigger until by the time she reached her teenage years, she could almost flawlessly imitate the person xe touched. Sadly, they had no control over this power, making contact with people difficult and, in consequence, relationships.

One of the carers working at the orphanage, Beth, got a weak spot for xyr. She made sure to help Saibra in every possible way, making xyr feel welcome in an otherwise hostile environment.

Shortly after xe got out of school and with no idea where to go next, Saibra found themself fearing the nearing future where xe would have to leave their home. It was then that a miracle happened: a message from the Time Agency, offering xyr a position in their team. It was common knowledge that the Time Agency only took in the very best, la crème de la crème. Receiving such an offer was rarely heard of, so xe jumped to the opportunity and agreed without questions.

What started as a dream soon became a nightmare. It was obvious the only reason Saibra was there was because of their powers - so useful for the Time Agency that they would do anything to own them.

With the promise of looking for a cure, they put xyr through experiment after experiment without result. Never giving up, they didn't stop - if anything, the experiments only grew more frequent.

In the meanwhile, they would send them to missions where their powers were useful. But always under supervision and control. Although xe owned a Vortex Manipulator, it was molecularly bonded to xyr skin and always remote controlled.

And that's when the Doctor came in.

It had been selfish to get rid of xyr powers without telling anyone. Xe knew the Agency wouldn't accept it and despite being useless to them, xe knew too much. So they escaped, took what little money they had and anything else xe could carry, and took the first shuttle to another planet.

Xe found small jobs to keep them going, to have money to survive. But the Agency didn't give up easily and sent agents after them. And so a game of cat and mouse started: bouncing from planet to planet throughout the Empire.

Luckily for xyr, those weren't good times for the Agency, they were busy enough that xe usually had time to settle for a while before being forced to flee. (A couple of times xe even managed to stay for a whole three months in one job.)

After a couple of years, a scandal where some of the methods of the Time Agency were made public forced it to shut down. And Saibra could breathe freely again.
