My parents, Amy Pond and Rory Williams, conceived me in the TARDIS and that made me half Timelord, half human.
The Order of the Silence wanted to use these powers, so they raised me up, away from my parents in 1969’s Florida. They held me captive in an orphanage with an astronaut suit. It’s all a bit of a blur, those days. But I managed to escape to the Shadows and hide on the streets of New York for years.
Then I found Leadworth and spent my childhood there. I made two friends who also believed in the Raggedy Doctor. But they didn’t know who I was. My best friends got married and after their wedding disappeared in a blue police box. And then they had me, their daughter.
When I first met the Doctor, he knew all about me. Think about that. An impressionable young girl and, suddenly this man just drops out of the sky and he’s clever and mad and wonderful, and knows every last thing about her. Imagine what that does to a girl.
I did what I had wanted since I could remember, I killed him. It was a proud moment, but it didn’t last long. He - and my parents - made me realise what a mistake it was.
So I gave up my regenerations for him and changed my name to River Song, trying to escape the Silence and their leader, Madam Kovarian. They found me again while I was in college, forced me to kill the Doctor. And so I did exactly what had to be done: I married him.
The trouble is, it’s all back to front. My past is his future. We’re travelling in opposite directions. Every time we meet, I know him more, he knows me less. I live for the days when I see him, but I know that every time I do, he’ll be one step further away. And the day is coming when I’ll look into that man’s eyes, my Doctor, and he won’t have the faintest idea who I am. And I think it’s going to kill me.
Life is getting shorter, a diary that is about to end. But not yet. Blank pages to be filled still await and River Song has a Vortex Manipulator, a sonic screwdriver and no want to end any of it yet.
After escaping the orphanage, Melody learnt to survive how she could. She hides in alleys in Florida and steals what she finds.
Normal teenager life, or is it? Mels Zucker isn't just any girl, even less so in such a small town like Leadworth. Indeed, it seems her wild talks of aliens might have more truth than it seems...
Rory and Amy are gone, travelling with the Doctor. And that leaves Mels alone to do what she wants. So of course she found a way to get off the planet and finally see the stars on her own.
A new life and a new start. River Song is a student at Luna University, looking for her next project to write a paper on.
Locked in an inescapable prison. Except for River, who was never a songbird to lock up.
The Golden Years. Melody Malone is the new detective in town. Mysteries and aliens. Deaths and thefts. She can solve them all.
Kovarian and her helpers found River again. They never let her go. And it's so easy to fall back into old routines.
River Song can't be kept in one place. Not even after death. She found a way out, a new body and is ready to mingle.
