The Wichita Collaborative Psychology Internship Program (WCPIP) is an APA-accredited internship made up of four cooperating agencies that, together, offer a broad range of training experiences to doctoral interns from either clinical or counseling psychology. We value providing our interns with a learning environment that is stimulating and enriching, yet still very collegial and supportive in nature. We recognize that a primary goal of one’s internship year is on learning to broaden and refine clinical skills; however, we also see internship as a prime opportunity to promote the development of skills across a variety of other professional areas too (e.g., consultation, outreach, provision of supervision, etc.). We strive to tailor the training experience to the intern’s unique needs and interests, and provide regular assessment of interns’ progress in order to ensure that training goals are met. Great care is taken to ensure that our interns not only meet their training goals, but that they enjoy their time at WCPIP as well.

Our Sites

As a consortium, WCPIP is able to provide interns with a rich variety of experiences. Each agency offers something unique. Read more about the specific opportunities available at each site by visiting the links below:

Our Training Approach

A major strength of our program is the wide range of training experiences offered to our interns. Interns spend four days a week at their primary agency and one day at a secondary agency. This allows our interns to have a rich, and varied training experience.

Our History

WCPIP has a long history of training future psychologists. We were one of the first consortia to ever receive accreditation from the American Psychological Association in 1953. Our first graduating class included Albert Bandura, pictured here with former Training Director, Dr. Joe Brewer, and the rest of the inaugural class.

As of August 2018, over 460 psychologists have completed their internships with WCPIP!
