Sondra Edwards and Steve Marks (featured speaker)
The speaker for our meeting today was Steve Marks, new Executive Director of the Watauga Long-Recovery Group (LTRG). Their purpose is to help residents, families, businesses and groups affected by Hurricane Helene in Watauga County and nearby communities with recovery services and to offer them support. Steve has been involved with many volunteer and service groups in the community. He has volunteered with FARM Cafe, the Listening Post at Appalachian State University, serves as the Fire Chief of the Cove Creek Volunteer Fire Department and as a Chaplain with the North Carolina Peer Support Network. He has been involved in various Disaster and Emergency Services organizations since 1982. With this rich background, you can see why he is such a good choice to lead this much needed effort.
