Cananga odorata is a fast-growing tropical tree famous for its drooping, greenish-yellow flowers that emit a deeply sweet, floral fragrance. Globally celebrated as the source of luxurious essential oils used in high-end perfumery, this tree also holds distinct structural value across its native Southeast Asian habitats. In the Minahasa region, the tree is locally known as wangurer. Beyond its aromatic appeal, the locals value its lightweight, easy-to-work timber. Wangurer wood is traditionally harvested for light construction, tool handles, and crafting household items. Â
