The 2nd Online Training Session, a tremendous success!

In the training session held on 27th February 2023, we were delighted to host 224 women from 23 different countries, using the RealBridge platform.

We would like to thank all who made it possible for you to partake in this event:

First and foremost, we commend the Women's Coordinators who serve as the executive arm of the Women's Committee, without you, the project would have been much more difficult to handle.

We would also like to thank and give credit to RealBridge managers : Shireen Mohandes and Andy Bowles as well as to the other operators and TDs: Franck Busselier, Paola Gennaro, Elaine Kay, and Linnea Edlund, who patiently assisted with any problems that arose.

Last but not least, our thanks to Marion Michielsen, without whom the training would not have been as successful as it was.

Thank you for your comments!

The responses  and remarks show that the session was very successful and valuable for most of the players, which is very encouraging for us.  Here are some of the comments we received:

Mary Kelly Rogers - "The teams tonight were most enjoyable and Marion's analysis was superb. What an opportunity to witness the thought process of such a star and champion!".

Sus Vang - "I think this is approximately the best thing that has happened to bridge in a very long time. Thank you for organizing, maintaining and helping to all of you".

Susanne Levin - "Such a generous opportunity, just Loved it! Thanks".

Prof dr Gorana Mitić, MD, PhD - "On behalf of the Serbian team, I want to thank you personally, and also to all of your coworkers who participate in the organization of the training session. It was really fantastic experience; everything went so smoothly and in time. Do I have to stress how fantastic Marion Michielsen was 🙂? Just perfect. Thanks for such a great time and for the opportunity to expand our bridge skills. We are looking forward to participating in the next training".

Maarja Oras - "Our players  were overall happy with the event, and I am extremely thankful to both organizers and teachers. Perhaps it would be useful to prepare the deals beforehand deliberately, to offer valuable insights from both bidding and play (declaring as well as defense) perspective? Unfortunately, last night most of the 'teachable moments' were about bidding and very centered on the natural system, which is not played here, so our players did not get much useful information from the aftermath. Also, one of our pairs were the defending side 13 boards of the 15...".

WBC's reply - We will convey your suggestions to the attention of the future coaches. Still, we need to be aware of the fact that each coach has his/her own approach, some will focus more on bidding and some on the play, some will talk more about conventions and others will talk more on the natural system. We have much to learn from each one of them and the fact that each session is led by a different coach brings diversity which is a good thing. Also, the level of the participants is not homogenic, which is why some might learn a lot and others less. We hope that eventually the general level of all participants will increase significantly.
