Debate:
Cash Advantages:
You have a limit on how much you can spend. If you don’t have the cash in your wallet, you can’t spend it.
You don’t have to pay the fees from a credit card company if cash is your preferred method of payment. If you’re a vendor, this can save you money to accept cash over credit cards
Credit Card Downsides:
It can be hard to have a sense of how much you spend if you just use your credit card, so it increases purchasing power. You don’t see the money going away, so you may be inclined to spend more.
Also, if you’re a vendor, you often have to pay a fee if someone uses a card to buy your product or services. Credit card debt can also happen quickly.
If your credit card is stolen, you can contact your bank and cancel your card right away. Credit cards are also much easier to carry than large amounts of cash, and as stated before, safer if they get stolen or lost.
Cash Downsides:
It can be used for illegal and black-market sales. If your cash is stolen, it can be really hard or impossible to get it back. There is also much more care needed on the side of the government to produce, manage, transport, and distribute.
