Waxxap - Get Contacts ("Waxxap", "the Extension", "we", "our") is a browser extension that helps users extract contact information from their own WhatsApp Web interface. We are committed to protecting your privacy.
1. Information We Collect
We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data.
Specifically:
- We do not collect your WhatsApp contacts, messages, or any chat content.
- We do not send any data to external servers.
- We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or any third-party tracking services.
- We do not store cookies or fingerprints.
2. How the Extension Works
Waxxap operates entirely within your browser. It reads contact information displayed on the WhatsApp Web page that is already visible to you, and presents it in an organized format within the extension popup. All processing happens locally on your device.
- No data leaves your browser. Extracted contacts are only available in the popup and exported files you explicitly download.
- No remote servers. The extension does not communicate with any server, API, or cloud service.
- No account required. You do not need to create an account or provide any personal information to use the extension.
3. Permissions Explained
The extension requests the following browser permissions:
- activeTab: To access the currently active WhatsApp Web tab and read the visible contact data when you click the extension icon.
- storage: To save your preferences locally (theme, language). No personal data is stored.
- scripting: To inject the content script into WhatsApp Web that reads contact information from the page DOM.
- Host permission (web.whatsapp.com): To run the content script exclusively on WhatsApp Web. The extension does not access any other website.
4. Data Storage
The only data stored locally by the extension is your user preferences (selected theme and language), saved in chrome.storage.local. This data never leaves your device and can be cleared by uninstalling the extension.
5. Third-Party Services
Waxxap does not integrate with, send data to, or receive data from any third-party service. The extension is fully self-contained.
6. Children's Privacy
The extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
