Some examples of skills to showcase:

Be sure whatever you showcase is considered "school appropriate," please!

  • Do you love to sing or play an instrument? Demonstrate a song to showcase that skill!

  • Do you come up with your own songs? Show off your song writing skills!

  • Are you an athlete? Show us some of your technical skills by demonstrating a trick play or something unique that you can do with that sport/an item from that sport! (fancy soccer ball footwork, sequence of dribbling/moves/fancy basketball shot etc)

  • Do you like dancing or designing choreography? Come up with a dance routine to a school-appropriate song!

  • Teach your pet some tricks!

  • Create a comedy routine!

  • Show us the process of a lego build with your steps along the way and the final project displayed too!

  • Research a science experiment (with the help of a parent or guardian to keep you safe) or project that interests you, and showcase your process and final result!

  • Are you a visual artist? Show your snapshots of the process along the way

  • Are you an aspiring magician? Show us your favorite magic trick!

  • Your talent doesn't have to be listed here! Have an idea but not sure if it is acceptable? Email us! Wausharayouthtalent@gmail.com

  2. After you register, we want to see a snippet of your talent! Send a registration video clip (see "How Do I Send a Video Clip to Waushara Youth Talent?" below for how to send this to us) to WausharaYouthTalent@gmail.com by 7/17/2020 and we can give you some feedback to help you complete your final video!

  3. One of our coordinators will contact you regarding your registration video to help you plan out your final video! See our two coordinators in the "Team" area of this website!

  4. Plan out and work on your final video (practice practice practice!).

  5. Submit your final video by August 3rd, 2020 and be featured by your area below! See how many views you can rack up! :)

  6. Get entered in a chance to win one of 5 drawings for $50!!

Incentive/Why should I showcase my talent?

  • All participants who complete the process and submit a final video will be entered in a chance to win $50 (5 chances for $50!)

  • All participants will get a McComb/Bruchs PAC t-shirt or drawstring bag--check back for which one!

  • Develop a skill you enjoy working on, and show it off to others in your county!

  • Inspire others to work on something they enjoy doing too!

  • Bring the Waushara Community together by supporting youth in their artistic demonstrations.

How do I send a video to Waushara Youth Talent?

(Registration Video and Final Video)

For ease of access, we are asking that all videos be uploaded to YouTube and marked as unlisted (using the directions below) and then have the link shared with us. This link will allow us to embed your video right here in our website!

Do you have one single video clip to send? Be sure you are on the device that has your video clip (phone or computer etc).

  • Go to www.youtube.com and upload with the following guidelines:

  • With help from your parent or guardian, create a YouTube account together. If a family member has an account already, you may use that. Please do not do this without guidance from an adult for your safety.

  • Once your account is created, click on the "video camera" icon at the top of the page with the plus sign in it. It says "create" when you over over it. This will allow you to upload a video to YouTube! It may prompt you to create a channel. That is up to you!

  • You will be asked to add your video clip from where it is saved. Drag and drop or find it in your files by searching using the prompts.

  • Title your clip appropriately so we know what you are sending us:

If you are sending us your registration video, Title it "Registration (Insert First Name) (Insert Talent)"

Example: Registration Molly Dog Trick

If you are sending us your final video, Title it "Final (Insert First Name) (Insert Talent)"

Example: Final Molly Dog Trick

  • In the "audience" area of the settings, click "Yes, this is for kids."

  • Click "more options" and scroll to where it says "comments and ratings." In the drop down menu, click "Disable comments." You don't need judgement on your talent from someone that watches your video. If you do not select this, we have no way to disable comments ourselves.

  • Uncheck "show how many viewers like or dislike this video." You don't need judgement on your talent from someone who watches your video. If you do not select this, we have no way to disable this function ourselves.

  • Click "Next" twice. In the "Visibility" area of the settings, click "Make this video unlisted." This will keep it from showing up to the world in searches on YouTube keeping your privacy more safe. If you click "private," we will not be able to see your video. Please do not make your video public for your safety.

  • The link for your video will appear on the screen as you finish picking settings. Highlight your link, copy, and paste it in to an email to us via email (wausharayouthtalent@gmail.com). Be sure your email gives us some information about what you are sending us (Is it your registration video? is it your final video? Who are you?).

Do you have multiple short video clips to send OR do you have pictures to show off of your project step-by-step from start to finish? Use Movie Maker 10 for free!

  • Download the free application Movie Maker 10 (click here).

  • Upload your clips (and/or pictures) into the application and edit to your desire (you can shorten, trim, clip and edit your videos too if there are portions you do not want to include!

  • "Save the video" (it most likely won't let you "save the project" since you have the free version-- that is ok!) for high definition display (simply say no if it asks you to "save the project") in the HD720 (since that is free) in MP4 format, hybrid encoder selected, and leave Bitrate at 8 mbps.

  • Once your video is all saved, take that file to YouTube and follow the directions above in the "single video clip" section above!

Final Video

(please submit by final video deadline of August 3rd, 2020)

  • Your final video should be a polished and fully prepared representation of your talent. Be sure you practice a LOT, and don't forget to practice for a friend or a guardian before recording! If you are showcasing something that requires a process (like a lego build, a science project, or an art project, be sure you document your process as often as possible along the way so you can show the steps through your hard work from start to finish!

  • When you feel ready to record, (this is similar to your registration video) introduce yourself (first name only), describe your talent that you will be showcasing, explain why you enjoy the talent you are showcasing, and tell us a little about the preparation that went into working toward your final video. After you introduce yourself/explain your answers to our questions, show off your talent! If you are showcasing a process, you still need to create the video introduction with the explanations by videoing yourself, and add it with your photos that you are putting together by using Movie Maker 10 (see those directions above).
