The Waushara Nature Fair is a great way to learn about, and from, nature organizations around us. Meet with volunteers from local organizations that support nature and the outdoors. Learn how to incorporate native plants into your landscape that are adapted to our climate and soil type, from Waushara Gardeners and The Wild Ones. Learn how to protect and expand the world’s rarest ecosystems, right here in Wisconsin, from The Prairie Enthusiasts.
Learn how J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue (who is conducting an Exotic Pet Surrender Event at the Fair) helps to protect our local ecosystem and interact with animals they have rescued and have available for adoption. Learn about birds and bird habitat improvement opportunities from SOS - Save Our Songbirds. Obtain information on area fish and fishing opportunities with Trout Unlimited. Look at beekeeping equipment and learn how both honeybees and native bees help pollinate plants. Learn about the state’s efforts to collect wildlife data via the Snapshot program.
Grab maps for our six Waushara County Ice Age Trail Alliance (IATA) segments, and learn about the 1,200 miles of trail statewide. Consider outdoor volunteer opportunities in the county with the Ice Age Trail Alliance who maintains 23 miles of trails or the Waushara Gardeners who maintain 16 gardens and public spaces in the county.
You can also get information from the Bumble Bee Brigade, North Central Conservancy Trust, Waushara Health Department, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Wisconsin Food Forests, Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, and others. Find a complete list of participating organizations here.
Come explore and expand your opportunities to enjoy and improve the natural spaces around us. The 3rd annual Waushara Nature Fair is free to attend on Sunday, May 17, 2026 from 10 AM to 2 PM at the World War II Memorial Building, at 440 West Main Street in Wautoma.
There are numerous gifts and prizes for attendees from the participating organizations and volunteers, so come early to increase your chance of getting one of the more luxurious prizes (some of the prizes may be restricted to people that sign up for emails about future Waushara Nature Fairs).
For people that sign in at the Reception Desk:
Three 6 month subscriptions to Outdoor News will be raffled off via free raffle and gifts include: Bookmarks, Game Cleaning Gloves, Mini Notebooks, Pencils, and Plant Label sets.
