How to Play Vtech Electronic Talking Battleship: A Complete Guide

Vtech Electronic Talking Battleship is a fun and interactive game that lets you challenge your friends or the computer to a naval battle. You can choose from three different game modes: Classic, Advanced, or Super Weapons. In each mode, you have to place your ships on a grid and try to sink your opponent's ships by calling out coordinates. The game will tell you if you hit or miss, and keep track of your score. You can also use special features like battle scans, missile salvos, and air raids to gain an advantage over your enemy. Here's how to play Vtech Electronic Talking Battleship:

What You Need

To play Vtech Electronic Talking Battleship, you need the following:

The game unit, which has two foldable boards with LCD screens and buttons.

Four AA batteries (not included).

The instruction manual (you can also download it from VTech Product Manuals [^1^]).

A friend to play with, or you can play against the computer.

How to Set Up

Before you start playing, you need to set up the game unit and choose your game mode. Here's how:

Open the game unit and insert four AA batteries into the battery compartment on the bottom of each board. Make sure the polarity is correct.

Turn on the game unit by pressing the ON/OFF button on either board. You will hear a voice saying "Welcome to Battleship Command".

Choose your game mode by pressing the MODE button on either board. You can choose from Classic, Advanced, or Super Weapons. The voice will announce your choice and explain the rules of each mode.

Choose your difficulty level by pressing the LEVEL button on either board. You can choose from Easy, Medium, or Hard. The voice will announce your choice and tell you how many ships you have in each mode.

Choose your player mode by pressing the PLAYER button on either board. You can choose from 1 Player (against the computer) or 2 Players (against a friend). The voice will announce your choice and tell you who goes first.

Place your ships on your grid by pressing the SHIP button on your board. You can either place them manually or let the game place them automatically for you. To place them manually, use the arrow buttons to move the cursor on your screen and press ENTER to confirm each ship's position and orientation. To place them automatically, press ENTER when the voice says "Press ENTER for automatic ship layout". The voice will tell you when all your ships are placed.

Close your board and get ready to play.

How to Play

The objective of Vtech Electronic Talking Battleship is to sink all of your opponent's ships before they sink yours. Each ship occupies a number of squares on the grid, and you have to hit every square of a ship to sink it. Here's how to play:

The player who goes first calls out a coordinate on the grid, such as "A5". The voice will repeat the coordinate and tell you if it's a hit or a miss.

If it's a hit, you will see a red dot on your screen at that coordinate, and hear an explosion sound. If it's a miss, you will see a white dot on your screen at that coordinate, and hear a splash sound.

If you hit and sink a ship, the voice will tell you which ship you sank, such as "You sank my destroyer". You will also see the ship's outline on your screen in red.

If you miss, it's your opponent's turn to call out a coordinate.

The game continues until one player sinks all of their opponent's ships. The voice will announce the winner and their score.
