Growing up in Santa Clarita, CA, tiny Tim could be found roaming the hills catching lizards. This interest in wildlife sparked his passion for science, and he had aspirations to be a marine biologist when he grew up. Unfortunately, his sea legs never developed, so he chose to pursue more land-based sciences. In high school, Tim did a great job balancing a stellar academic performance with state-level athletics in lacrosse. After high school, he attended Californian Lutheran University and earned a BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. His undergraduate research under Dr. John F. Tannaci included synthetic polymerization methodologies of organic photovoltaic materials.

Tim abandoned the sunnyside weather of California and moved cross country to obtain a Ph.D. in Chemistry with a focus in biology here at UNC-Chapel Hill. Tim focused on studying cooperativity of noncovalent networks and how it applies to peptide-based catalysis throughout his time in the Waters Lab. He has a longstanding passion for undergraduate education and has goals to become a professor at a primarily undergraduate institution. When not in lab, Tim can be found out on his bicycle, acing serves on the tennis court, or toppling kings on the chessboard.

Tim continued to pursue research as a UNC post-doc trainee in the Cancer and Epigenetics Training Program working joinly with Dr. David Williams and Dr. Marcey Waters for one year. Currently, Tim is workin as a protein chemistry scienctist for Life Edit Therapeutics here in the research triangle.
