Kyra is from Amesbury, MA, a small New England town close to the beach. She attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where she worked as an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Anita Mattson’s group developing sulfoxonium ylide cyclopropanation reactions. During this time, she also completed two industry internships.

After graduating with a B.S. in chemistry in May of 2023, Kyra decided to brave the heat of the south and come to UNC Chapel Hill for graduate school. She joined the Waters Group in the fall of 2023.

Outside of the lab, you can find Kyra reading, crocheting, and when she has time, baking bread and other treats.
