Kyla Stingley is a born and bred North Carolinian who apparently is never going to leave, growing up in Cary (before Ben even knew about it), moving to Greensboro to get her BS in Biochemistry and MS in Chemistry at UNC-Greensboro before heading back to the triangle for her PhD.
At UNC-G she worked in Dr. Kimberly Petersen's group characterizing chalcone derivatives in undergrad and expanding the scope of organic phosphoric acid catalysts in her masters. After these years fighting the endless battle of eradicating all water from her samples, she finally gave in and joined the dark side AKA the Waters Lab in 2017. Since then she's realized this water thing is actually pretty cool. Kyla is currently investigating the impact of noncovalent network formation on receptor design and function, as well as the developing a paper based assay to detect and identify water pollutants.
When she's not sciencing Kyla continues her lifelong quest to find the best cheese fries and watch all the top 150 horror movies.
