Introduction (Uktar 3rd)

• Bingus critically succeeded at using the Emerald Dagger and slashed a clean cut through the middle of the Gazer's core eye, splitting in half like a watermelon.

• The Gazer is presumably, dead!

• Without proper knowledge of the Xanathar base, and forgetting they have a little kenku cultist in their company, the party may be forced to comb over the entire underground hideout. Still looking for Floon, the party is faced with several directions to try. There are two corridors spanning to their left and right, as well as the center spire the Gazer was guarding. 

• Kaboo studies their surroundings and finds a stone door on the side of the corridor. Going off their previous experiences with sewer corridors, they opt for the door instead.

Someone was Peepin

• They funnel into the hallway room and Schpee tries to grab Rito, who bites her hand.

• Ranaer takes the lead into the room and is followed in order by Kaboo holding Rito, Bingus, Shardyn, and Schpee.

• To their left is a room with scattered debris and to their right, a smaller room with a hallway that twists out of sight. 

• Shardyn surveys the rubble in the lower room and manages to see under one of the pillars that there is a red bottle intact. It's a circular bottle with a red liquid inside.

• Shardyn looks at the bottle and doesn't think too much of it.

• Schpee gives the liquid a poke with the tip of her finger and tastes it. The flavor is sweet and invigorating, and she regains +1 health.

• In the smaller room, there is a stool which Bingus chooses to sit on. Through a narrow crack in the wall is a view that would've let whoever was sitting there see the room the party was in prior.

• Bingus' very experience rear senses someone was watching them not long before. An imprint of someone's cheeks have well worn it out as well as a lingering warmth. Apparently the chair is moist. [Ew? :( ]

• They pry open an old box which has miscellaneous junk inside.

Old Friends and Ooze

• Following the hallway further, they come across a staircase that leads into what seems like a dormitory. Voices in the next room alert them to company in the next chamber. The party pushes forward without much thought and investigates. 

• Inside the room, still in the dormitory-like area, is a bandit and a duegar forcing a door before them to stay shut.

• Schpee recognizes the bandit and he accuses her, "You're the bastard that killed my friend!"

• Schpee attempts to gaslight him and fails. The bandit is convinced and just knows that it was Schpee.

• The bandit recognizes Shardyn as the bard that tried pushing him down the Yawning Portal... Three times. And failed each attempt.

• The two strangers are still both talking to the party while actively fighting against the door to what seems to be a bathroom, trying to keep it closed.

• Kaboo asks if it's dangerous. She receives a "Yes."

• Bingus asks what's behind the door. They explain the appearance of a gray gelatinous slime as a resounding thud continues to slowly pound the door.

• Kaboo offers to help them with the slime in exchange for them forgiving Schpee for literal murder. The bandit says "fuck it" and resigns to the offer, letting the door open.

• A large gray ooze leaks out from the neighboring room, its essence creeping in through cracks in the stone, and splinters of the wood.

• The duergar uses his War Pick to swing at the slime.

• Renaer slashes the slime and does a sizable amount of damage.

• Kaboo reasons that the slime is resistant to fire and heat.

• Shardyn uses viscous mockery on the slime but the words simply melt off. Their cape billows.

• Rito requests Kaboo to get him closer to the ooze and critically strikes the ooze with his dagger and the slime dissipates into nothingness. "Good job, Rito!"

Old Friends, Actually Not Friends at All

• Shardyn enters the bathroom and sees that the toilets are destroyed by the gray ooze that had seeped out of one of the receptacles.

• Kaboo opts to speak with the strangers.

  • Kaboo✨: "How long have you been down here, fighting the slime?"

    • "30 minutes."

  • Kaboo ✨: "Should really get a kenku. Do you live down here?"

    • "Yes... It's a Xanathar base."
      
      

• Shardyn tries to lockpick a door and their all-purpose tool fails to open it. She claims she was trying to find another bathroom.

• Schpee starts to take a crack at the door
  
  

  • Kaboo ✨: "Have you seen a man like this, but pretty?" (She refers to Renaer at her side.)

    • "It looks like the man we kidnapped- from the warehouse, earlier."

• Schpee manages to bust open the door in the meantime while Kaboo and Renaer were talking.

• The bandit remembers Shardyn trying to push him into the Yawning Portal three times on their first encounter. He approaches them and swings with his scimitar.

• Shardyn is pushed backwards into Schpee who catches them in her arms. Schpee says "I've got you, my lovely friend", to which

  • Shardyn says "Huh 🤨?"

• Shardyn calls the bandit a "piss-guzzling slag" and he feels fairly offended!

• The duergar wants the Kenku pretty bad, seeing how useful it was in destroying the gelatinous slime. He's scheming a way to steal Rito from the party. 

• When the duergar goes to slash at Kaboo, she casts warding flare and temporarily blinds him.

• Bingus communes with his dagger and says "Epic meal time". The dagger says "Mmmm!"

• Kaboo misses her swing with her lantern, hitting the wall behind him.

• Rito uses Dagger Jr., failing badly at slashing the duergar.

• Schpee steps forward to swing her greataxe. She more than critically succeeds (24), getting a clean hit off on the bandit and wedging the greataxe in his throat. He whispers the name of his fallen comrade with a faint smile before the axe fully separates his head from his torso. The bandit dies.

• Renaer manages a strong cut into the duergar.

• Sharydn uses viscous mockery and the words pass over his head.

  • Shardyn's cape billows.

• The duegar tries to shove Kaboo, being one third of her height he barely manages to make her move.

• Bingus critically fails at casting eldritch blast. He misses and hits above the duegar's head.

• Kaboo swings her lantern straight down and misses again. 

• Rito swings and misses his hit with Dagger Jr. as well.

• Schpee swings her greataxe and misses as well. The duegar is too short and elusive.

• Renaer lunges and misses. Again.

• Shardyn uses dissonant whispers on the duegar.

• The duegar lunges again and misses.

• Bingus conjures a forceful eldritch blast at the duegar's head and domes him, causing him to collapse on the floor.

• There a set of leather armor and +5 gold, another +5 gold on the bandit.

• Kaboo gives rito the +5 gold and a set of leather armor.

• Schpee picks up the decapitated head and offers it to Rito as an apology saying, "I'm so sorry for decapitating your friend's head earlier."

• Rito pecks at Schpee's eyes and she takes a small amount of damage. Schpee is temporarily blinded.

• They continue through another passageway.

Way More Guests Than Anticipated

• A purple light illuminates the room they enter, sourcing from a purple flaming put in the back of the chambers.

• Crippled near the end of the chamber is a red-haired shapely man, bloody and badly beaten. A half-orc stands before him, looking to the entering party.

• A nightmarish figure in black is standing in the farthest point of the room, swathed in dark clothing, with purple leathery skin and four tentacles draping from its mouth. In its arms it cradles a creature with several appendages and the body of a brain.

• Shardyn has heard rumors of these creatures from her time in the Underdark. She understands they are now in the presence of a mind flayer, the darkly clothed being, and its intellect devourer companion.

• The mind flayer surveys the party that has entered the room and takes in their appearances, their energies, vibes, and auras.

• Bingus is singled out among the rest of the party, and the mind flayer's focus goes to the warlock and his dagger.

• The mind flayer creates a telepathic connection and relays to his mind, "You have a powerful connection, little adventurer." 

• The Emerald Dagger is lifted from Bingus by a psychic force and raised into the air. The mind flayer immediately tries prying the force inside the dagger out of it by starting to channel a spell. The weapon begins to pulse with energy.

• Floon makes a tiny slash in the orc. Probably with his fingernails.

• The intellect devourer misses a hit on Renaer.

• Shardyn stabs at the intellect devourer with her rapier and blood gushes from the wound.

• Rito drags Floon back to the safety of the party, and then casts a curse on the mind flayer in the back.

• Schpee makes a mild attack on the brain but is thrown off by her injured eyes. Schpee begins her rage.

• Kaboo makes it to the other end of the room where the mind flayer is and bonks his head with her lantern to try and break its focus on the spell its casting.

• Bingus uses his crossbow and shoots the mind flayer in the eye, hitting but not making it flinch.

• The half-orc notices the moth's close proximity to his master and aims to shoot a fireball at her.

  • Kaboo uses warding flare and the half-orc misses.

• The intellect devourer uses its claws and misses.

• Shardyn moves forward to strike the half-orc with her rapier.

• Rito flies to the other side of the mind flayer, opposite of Kaboo, and strikes with Dagger Jr.

• Schpee puts her arms out on both sides of her (still blinded) and is able to feel for the Emerald Dagger, and is able to return it to Bingus. Though, the mind flayer continues using his spell over the Dagger.

• Schpee runs forward and pushes the half-orc into the purple pit of flames.

• Kaboo conjures a bright ball of light and it hits the mind flayer, who does not break his concentration.

• With his weapon returned Bingus casts green flame blade, although its damage is minimal, the searing hot flame of the blade manages to break the mind flayer's concentration. Bingus' dagger begins to glow brightly before a flash rips a towering green cambion out of it.

• The cambion from the Emerald Dagger appears really, really pissed.

• The mind flayer casts mind blast, stunning and doing heavy damage to members before them in a cone of bright purple light. The Cambion is stunned, while Schpee and Shardyn are downed.

• Rito sees Kaboo being attacked by the intellect devourer and slashes at it.

• Kaboo uses healing word on Schpee and casts guidance on her.

• Bingus follows the mind flayer and tethers him to a lightning-like bolt that does damage.

• The mind flayer walks further into the room and begins to glow a violent purple before he approaches a platform. A loud hum fills the room and the purple aura surrounds him before it vanishes from sight.

• The half-orc burnt to death a while ago. No one seemed to notice.

Recovery and Short Rest

• The party barely recovers from the encounter with the mind flayer and begin to explore.

• Rito searches the half-orc and finds many scrolls.

  • Burning hands

  • Disguise Self

  • False Life

  • Unseen Servant

  • Witch Bolt

• Shardyn searches the chest behind the throne. They find:

  • 2 potions of healing

  • 16 gp

  • 82 sp

  • 250 cp

• Bingus discovers a crack in the wall a couple rooms over. Bingus uses eldritch blast and breaks it open.

• Shardyn breaks open a crate and finds many broken wine bottles.

• There's a room filled with crates and another door, leading to another staircase.

• To recover themselves from the encounter with the half-orc, intellect devourer, and the mind flayer. They split into Xanathar quarters and rest for a short period.
