Introduction:

Watan-eers symbolizes the struggle against all odds and the fight against the state of inhumanity that we are facing in Lebanon. It is a symbol for change and a symbol of endurance against all challenges. An encouragement to Never Give Up.

Maryam Kairouz, a 16 year old Lebanese, who was previously considered as a couch potato, turned her life around, and has been undergoing rigorous training that involves strength, endurance and lots of cardio.

She will be the youngest recorded person in the Arab World to attempt Everest Base Camp, in order to prove that we can turn our life around and hence our beloved country, if we only Believe.

"If we do not work for a better and improved Lebanon, we will lose our beloved country and all that we have aspired for."

She will be taking on this challenge to prove that anything is possible when we believe in ourselves and our capabilities.

A reminder that if we work hand in hand to rebuild our home and our future we will save our beloved country, for we are, Watan-eers!

Purpose:

This initiative comes at a time when Lebanon is facing a pandemic and its worst economic and political crises due to corruption in the country. The purpose of this expedition is to help lift peoples' spirits during such dark times and show them that with the right state of mind, we can achieve anything.
