Singles (1992)

Cameron Crowe's sophomore directorial effort depicted the lives of a group of Seattleite singles and their struggles to find romance in the city. This film did an excellent job depicting early nineties Seattle and the rising grunge scene - even featuring members of local bands Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains in cameo roles.

Opening shots depict several Seattle landmarks, including the Space Needle, and this shot overlooking the skyline and Elliott Bay.

Linda (Kyra Sedgwick) lives at 203 31st Avenue in Leschi (thanks to Charity).

Linda meets Luiz (Camilo Gallardo) as she looks through the window of a pet shop at what it is now Samurai Noodle at 4138 University Way NE in the University District.

Luiz takes Linda to "University Auto Repair," which is now Clinton's Auto Body at 5330 Roosevelt Way (thanks to Charity).

Linda and Luiz are seen briefly shopping at Pike Place Market.

Ruth (Devon Raymond) consoles Linda outside the Re-Bar at 1114 Howell Street.

The apartment building where several of the characters live is the Coryell Apartments at 1820 East Thomas Street on Capitol Hill.

One scene between Scott (Campbell Scott) and Linda outside her car takes place on 19th Avenue East, with the garages on the east side of the apartment building in the background.

The Java Stop where Janet (Bridget Fonda) and Cliff (Matt Dillon) work was located in the O.K. Hotel, which is located under the Alaskan Way viaduct in Pioneer Square at approximately 212 Alaskan Way South.

Cliff (Matt Dillon) is seen at Jimi Hendrix's grave site at Renton's Greenwood Cemetery at 350 Monroe Avenue NE. In 2003, his remains were moved to a lavish new memorial also on the premises.

The "Pioneer Square Newsstand" was built by the film crew on the side of the J&M Cafe at 201 1st Avenue South in Pioneer Square.

The intersection of 3rd & University is seen in one shot, looking toward 1201 Third Avenue (formerly the Washington Mutual Tower).

Steve and Linda walk out of the Virginia Inn at 1937 1st Avenue and down Virginia Street.

Linda sits on a bench in the small park on the NW side of 4th Avenue & Lenora Street, across from the Cinerama (thanks to Jose).

The clothing store where film director Tim Burton makes a cameo appearance was located across the street at 1936 1st Avenue.

The Fremont Bridge, connecting Fremont & East Queen Anne on Fremont Avenue North is seen briefly, as Debbie (Sheila Kelley) rushes to her date. The Aurora Bridge is in the background.

She is also seen emerging from Post Alley and climbing Virginia Street above Pike Place Market.

Steve and Linda walk along Occidental Avenue South through Occidental Park in Pioneer Square. The Union Trust Building on South Main Street is in the background.

Gasworks Park on the north end of Lake Union is of course featured in a scene.

The accident scene takes place at California Avenue SW & SW Charleston Street in West Seattle. The Chevron in the background is now Implant Dentistry of Washington (thanks to Michael A.).

Steve has lunch with the mayor (Tom Skerritt) in what is now Chandler's Crabhouse at 901 Fairview Avenue North on the east side of Lake Union (thanks to Michael L.).

The scene where Scott goes to the rock show and Chris Cornell is singing was filmed at the Off Ramp, now El Corazon at 109 Eastlake Avenue (thanks to Charity).

The dock scene takes place outside the UW Marine Sciences Building on Portage Bay. The entrance to the Montlake Cut is visible on the left side of the bottom photo.
