Say Anything (1989)

Another one of the films most often associated with Seattle, although only the scenes without the actors were shot there, everything else was shot in Los Angeles. Cameron Crowe's iconic 80s romantic comedy features John Cusack as Lloyd Dobler, the average Joe who wants a shot at Diane (Ione Skye) the spoiled valedictorian. 

In the opening driving shots, Lloyd's car is seen passing by an odd teapot-shaped building. This is Bob's Java Jive at 2102 South Tacoma Way in Tacoma. It was also used in "I Love You To Death."

Though Bel-Square Mall is actually in Bellevue, the site of their "controversial first date" (seen when Lloyd drives past it at the beginning of the film) was actually Westlake Mall in downtown Seattle. Lloyd drives past the entrance on Pine Street between 4th & 5th Avenue.

Corey's (Lili Taylor) house is located at 6507 Parker Ct. NW in Ballard. 

Lloyd is seen driving on southbound I-5 just south of the Lakeview Blvd. overpass, and further north in front of Lake Union and the Zymogenetics building at 1201 Eastlake Avenue East. 

The statue that Diane & her father drive past before the graduation ceremony is called "Waiting for the Interurban" and is located at the intersection of North 34th Street & Fremont Avenue North in the Fremont area of Seattle. The Aurora Bridge is in the background.

The bridge with the "Welcome to Seattle" sign that Lloyd drives over is the east side of the Lakeview Boulevard bridge over I-5. 

Diane & her father (John Mahoney) drive down North 35th Street past the former Auditorium Cleaners at 3501 Fremont Avenue North, Seattle. This was also used in The Hand That Rocks the Cradle.

The graduation scene was filmed at Santa Monica College Amphitheatre, which sadly is no longer standing (thanks to Iamnotastalker). 

After the graduation, there is a brief scene at Lacy Park in San Marino, CA (thanks to Iamnotastalker). 

Lloyd's apartment is 318 South Canyon Blvd. #3 in Monrovia (thanks to Iamnotastalker). 

The party at Vahlere's house is at 1686 Homewood Drive in Altadena (thanks to Iamnotastalker). 

When Lloyd & Diane drive Mike home after the party, they drive north on the Alaskan Way Viaduct (Highway 99) toward downtown Seattle (from the stadium district). This has since been torn down in a years-long process. 

They are then seen dropping Mike off at his house at 4936 Sunnyslope Avenue in Sherman Oaks, CA (thanks to Chas).

In an extended scene on the DVD, Lloyd & Diane are driving Mike home and drive past Dick's Drive-In at 111 NE 45th Street in the Wallingford area of Seattle. 

The sidewalk in front of the 7-11 at 11340 Magnolia Boulevard in North Hollywood, California is where Lloyd stops Diane from stepping on broken glass. This is across the street from the park featured in the famous "boombox" scene. 

Lloyd walks Diane home to 140 South Norton Avenue in Windsor Square (thanks to Iamnotastalker).

Diane has lunch with her mom at Cameron's Seafood at 1978 East Colorado Blvd in Pasadena (thanks to Iamnotastalker). 

The diner scene with Lloyd and Diane is at Flooky's, filmed at the now-gone North Hollywood location at 5200 Vineland Avenue (thanks to Iamnotastalker). 

The exterior shot of "Golden Seasons" retirement home is Tierra del Sol at 9919 Sunland Blvd. in Sunland, CA. The interiors were done at Scripps Home in Altadena, which has since been remodeled (thanks to Iamnotastalker). 

The guitar shop in the film was Voltage Guitars at 1513 North Gardner Street in Hollywood, which is now empty (thanks to Iamnotastalker). 

The scene in the IRS office was shot at what is now Twin Springs at 433 South Spring Street in downtown LA (thanks to Iamnotastalker). 

The dojo where Lloyd is seen kickboxing is Jun Chong Tae Kwon Do at 5223 Lankershim Boulevard in North Hollywood. This was also the same dojo used in The Karate Kid & The Last Dragon!

The rainy nighttime phone booth scene was filmed on Fern Dell Drive near Los Feliz Blvd in East Hollywood. The phone booth was added by the film crew (thanks to Iamnotastalker). 

After Diane dumps him, Lloyd drives down North 45th Street in Wallingford (back in Seattle) past the Guild 45th Theater at 2115 North 45th Street. 

Scenes outside the "Gas N' Sip" were filmed at Retro Dairy Mart at 4420 West Magnolia in Burbank (thanks to Iamnotastalker). 

The scene at the luggage store in the mall were filmed at Westfield Fasion Square Mall at 14006 Riverside Drive in Sherman Oaks (thanks to Iamnotastalker). 

The iconic scene in this film (and the poster), where Lloyd stands outside Diane's house playing Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" was actually at North Hollywood Park, at the corner of Magnolia Boulevard & Tujunga Avenue in North Hollywood.

The exterior shot of the courthouse was the Spring Street Federal Courthouse at 312 North Spring Street in downtown LA (thanks to Iamnotastalker). 

The Spokane prison scenes were filmed at Mira Loma Detention Center at 45100 60th Street West in Lancaster, CA (thanks to Iamnotastalker). 

The plane scene at the end of the film was shot on Stage 747 at Universal Studios Hollywood, which today houses a workshop (thanks to Iamnotastalker).
