Darius (Aubrey Plaza) is an intern for Seattle Magazine, and is sent on assignment with Jeff (Jake Johnson) and Arnau (Karan Soni) to investigate the origins of a mysterious classified ad seeking a companion for time travel. They are led to an ocean front town and the eccentric Kenneth (Mark Duplass), who may actually be on to something...This low-budget independent film that became the surprise hit of 2012 was filmed primarily in Seattle and Ocean Shores, WA.

As they arrive in "Ocean View," they are driving south on Route 109 just north of Sandpiper Beach Resort in Pacific Beach.

During their stay at Ocean View, they stay at the "Sea Cove Inn" - actually Ocean Shores Motel at 681 Ocean Shores Boulevard NW.

But interiors were filmed at the Park Plaza Motel at 4401 Aurora Avenue North in Seattle.

Darius finds out that Kenneth stocks shelves at Grocery Outlet at 236 SW 152nd Street in Burien.

Jeff and Arnau try to track down Jeff's ex-girlfriend on Facebook in The Shipwreck Tavern, 4210 SW Admiral Way, Seattle.

They finally track down Kenneth at his home at 22022 NE Redmond-Fall City Road in Redmond.

Jeff finally sees Liz (Jenica Bergere) again at Wild Roots Salon at 8814 Roosevelt Way NE in Maple Leaf.

Darius and Kenneth further discuss their plan and Jeff tries to get Arnau to pick up high school girls at a football game at Highline High School at 228 South 152nd Street in Burien.

Darius and Kenneth finish up their training routine on the beach at Discovery Park near the West Point Lighthouse.

Jeff meets Liz at her house at 4360 336th Place SE in Fall City.

Darius finds out about Kenneth's secret at Flap Jack's Wafflehouse at 13806 1st Avenue South in Burien.

Kenneth picks up Darius for their "mission" at the end of W Chance A La Mer NW in Ocean Shores.

Kenneth realizes he's being tailed as he drives down Stossel Avenue NE and Blanche Street in Carnation.

The liquor store scene takes place at North Beach Mini Mart at 748 Ocean Shores Boulevard in Ocean Shores.

Bumper cars and go carts were filmed at BJ's Family Fun Center at 752 Point Brown Avenue NE in Ocean Shores.

Darius meets Kenneth's dream girl Belinda (Kristen Bell) at 3907 47th Avenue NE in Laurelhurst.

Darius and Jeff talk to the agents that have been following Kenneth at the corner of 47th Avenue NE & NE 39th Street.

The climactic scene at the dock was filmed on a small private lake outside Woodinville, WA.
