This futuristic sci-fi film featuring out-of-control robots and starring Tom Selleck was set to be the big release of 1984 - that is of course until a little film called The Terminator came out the same year...Featuring a story by Michael Crichton (and directed by him as well), KISS's Gene Simmons as the villain, a pre-Cheers Kirstie Alley, and some super-sweet special effects (that are now a little hilarious) - this overlooked film is still worth a watch. The film takes place in an unnamed city in the future, though it was actually shot in Vancouver, BC.
In the opening scene of the film, Ramsay (Selleck) and Thompson (Cynthia Rhodes) are sent in to stop a haywire robot that is destroying a corn field. This appears to have been filmed near Moses Lake, WA.
The hotel where Johnson (Chris Mulkey) leads them on a chase is the old Roosevelt Hotel at 166 East Hastings Street in Vancouver.
As Luther (Simmons) hunts down Johnson, the chase ends up in an alley across from historic Sun Tower at the corner of W. Pender St. & Beatty St. in Vancouver. This alley is no longer there.
Soon after picking up Jackie (Alley), Ramsay and Thompson cross Burrard Bridge in Vancouver.
