Northern Exposure was a TV series set in the fictional town of Cicely, Alaska following Dr. Joel Fleischman (Rob Morrow) and a unique cast of characters. The town of Roslyn, WA fit the bill nicely and the surrounding area provided a spectacular substitution for the Alaskan wilderness.
The opening shot looks west down West Pennsylvania Avenue, with the intersection of North 1st Street in the foreground.
The "Northwestern Mining Company" building where Dr. Fleischman sets up shop is now Cicely's Gift Shop at 112 West Pennsylvania Avenue.
The Roslyn Cafe was changed to "Roslyn's" for the show but remains in business at 201 West Pennsylvania.
The Brick Tavern is the state's oldest still operating at 100 West Pennsylvania.
Ruth-Anne's General store was at the NW corner of Pennsylvania & 1st.
Across the street at the NE corner is the old company store, which houses the fictional KBHR 57 AM.
In an early episode, Joel is seen at the old viewpoint at Snoqualmie Falls. This is now being rebuilt.
Joel visits the fire lookout atop Red Top Mountain NE of Roslyn.
A dream sequence in one episode takes place on "Park Avenue," really outside Shuckers restaurant at 4th & Seneca in downtown Seattle.
