Burke (Aaron Eckhart) is a successful self-help speaker who's wife has passed away. While giving one of his seminars in Seattle, he meets a florist (Jennifer Aniston) and they soon fall for one another. The entire film was set in Seattle and features a handful of recognizable landmarks, however the majority of shooting took place in Vancouver, BC (booo!). In fact, Jennifer Aniston never actually set foot here as she was already working on her next film during the scheduled Seattle shoot. Instead, a body double was used and she had to be digitally inserted into several shots. What a shame, had they actually filmed the whole thing here people might consider this the new "Sleepless in Seattle."
Burke arrives in Seattle at Vancouver International Airport at 3211 Grant McConachie Way in Richmond, BC.
Hee then takes a taxi across the West Seattle Bridge toward Seattle.
He then ends up stuck in traffic in Pike Place Market.
He then sets out on foot from the north end of the market to the intersection with Virginia Street, where he realizes he's without an umbrella.
Burke then arrives for his seminar at the Hyatt Regency at 655 Burrard Street in downtown Vancouver.
Then its on to a photo shoot on a south-side balcony of the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown at 1128 West Hastings Street.
Just so we remember what city we're supposed to be in, we get a shot of the monorail in Seattle, seen near its Westlake station at 5th Avenue & Olive Way.
Then, in perhaps one of the most ridiculous digital cover-ups I've ever seen, Burke takes his seminar group from outside the front of the Vancouver Hyatt to the roof - where a digital painting of Seattle has been added in the distance...behind several Vancouver skyscrapers (that's it, Hollywood - now you've taken this too far!).
Eloise (Aniston) goes to see her boyfriend on Thomas Street in Seattle, at Fairview Avenue North. He apparently has a sweet apartment/guitar shop in an old school building...
Later, a shot pans up from Eloise working in her backyard garden and reveals that she apparently shares the same view as Seattle's famous Kerry Park. Nice try, digital matte painters!
"Eloise's Garden" flower shop is actually Tabu Boutique at 51 Powell Street in Gastown, Vancouver.
Eloise and Burke have their first date at the Water Street Cafe at 300 Water Street in Gastown.
The requisite helicopter shot of Seattle over Elliott Bay...
Followed by another monorail shot as Eloise's van zips down Olive Way at 5th Avenue.
Another shot shows it going up Pine Street from Pike Place Market.
Later, Burke, Eloise and gang walk down 1st Avenue at Pike Street...
...and down Post Alley to the famous "gum wall." Close-up shots with Jennifer Aniston were done on a replica wall built in a Vancouver studio.
Then Seattle's world-famous Fremont Troll gets some more screen time - notice Aniston's face is not shown (located at North 36th Street & Troll Avenue).
They top of their evening with a visit to Bruce & Brandon Lee's graves at Lakeview Cemetery at 1554 15th Avenue East on Capitol Hill. Shots with Jennifer Aniston were done at Fraserview Cemetery in Surrey, BC.
Burke rides the monorail to Seattle Center.
Where he climbs stairs to the top of the Space Needle and a grandiose helicopter shot pulls away from him standing on the observation deck.
Burke takes his seminar group to a Home Depot (in Vancouver) via Seattle's soon-to-be-gone Alaskan Way Viaduct where it connects to 1st Avenue South by Quest (now Century Link) Field.
In one of the last scenes of the film, Burke is seen hitchhiking. This is on 1st Avenue South near the on-ramp for SR 509 in South Seattle.
