This dark comedy from 1990 was inspired by true events and had a surprisingly diverse cast of well-known actors, The entire film was set in Tacoma and for the most part, actually filmed there.
The opening scene where Joey Boca (Kevin Kline) reveals that he is cheating on his wife was filmed at the Holy Rosary Church at 512 South 30th Street in Tacoma.
Joey Boca's Pizzeria & the Villa Rosalie Apartments where Joey, Rosalie (Tracey Ullman) and Devo (River Phoenix) work is now a Tully's Coffee in the Bostwick Building at 764 Broadway in Tacoma. The entrance to the apartments was on the west side, on Saint Helens Avenue.
Joey & Rosalie's house is at approx. 424 North C Street in Tacoma, a couple blocks west of Stadium High School.
The bar where Devo hires Harlan (William Hurt) and Marlon (Keanu Reeves) is Bob's Java Jive at 2102 South Tacoma Way in Tacoma.
Joey and Devo drive north down the stretch of Tacoma Avenue South in front of what is now Sound West Audio & Clinton's Music House. There is also a shot of them passing in front of a view of the Tacoma Dome, which I believe was also near this spot.
Stadium Bowl High School at 111 North E. Street in Tacoma (also seen in "10 Things I Hate About You") was used in this film, though I'm not sure what scenes. I think likely the library was used for the scene where Rosalie catches Joey cheating on her. Would appreciate any help confirming or denying this!
The police station exterior & interior scenes were filmed at the Elks Club Building at 565 Broadway in Tacoma.
The run-down trailer where Nadja (Joan Plowright) hires the first hitman was located in a fenced-off private business area on the northeast side of the 11th Street bridge in Tacoma.
