This film follows the career of a clumsy thief named Ray (Michael Sarrazin) who soon becomes involved with Harry (James Coburn), a master pickpocket working in Seattle. Working together with his new girlfriend Sandy (Trish Van Devere) and veteran old-timer Casey (Walter Pigeon), they are soon living the high life - until Ray wants to set out on his own. The film begins in Seattle, but as the police close in on them they relocate to Victoria, BC & Salt Lake City, Utah.
In the opening scene, Harry picks up Casey at Sea-Tac International Airport. One of the gates and the baggage claim were shown.
Ray practices his pickpocket skills on Sandy at Union Station at 401 South Jackson Street.
Sandy & Ray sit at a table at Pier 57 on the waterfront.
Ray tries to pawn off watches in a van that picks them up at University & Western. The old wooden staircase has been replaced with a completely new concrete staircase and most of the buildings are now gone. "Jo's Cafe" seen in the shot was also used in McQ.
The van turns off University Street and drives south down Post Alley. All of these buildings are gone and University Street is now a staircase here. An identical shot was also seen in McQ.
The hotel entrance was the SE side of what is now the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle, at approx. 452 Seneca Street (the main entrance is 411 University Street). Harry's room is #3960.
Sandy & Ray meet Casey in the former Brasserie Pittsbourgh, which was on the first floor of the Pioneer Building at 1st & James in Pioneer Square. This space was most recently an antique mall.
The gang looks for more "marks" outside what was then the 410 Restaurant at 410 University Street.
They all ride the monorail to the Seattle Center station from Westlake.
The gang prepares to rob a man outside what is now Bank of America at 300 Occidental Avenue South. The man is actually former Seattle mayor Wesley Uhlman in a cameo role.
Ray watches the man leave the bank across the street at the corner of Occidental Avenue & Main Street.
As they leave Seattle, the team of thieves take the Queen of Victoria ferry through Active Pass north of Victoria. This ferry has since been retired from the BC ferry system and sold privately.
Upon their arrival in Canada, the Parliament House at 501 Belleville Street in Victoria is shown.
Harry & crew stay at the famous Empress Hotel, now The Fairmont Empress at 721 Government Street in Victoria.
As they take their game to Utah, they are seen driving down North State Street toward East South Temple Street.
The Salt Lake Temple is seen in this shot.
Harry & crew stay in room 548 of the Utah Hotel (or Joseph Smith Memorial Building) at 52 North Main Street.
Ray is seen walking away from the Salt Lake City & Council Building.
Ray & Sandy take another sucker and two men fight outside the Beehive House at 67 East South Temple.
Sandy & Ray reenact their moment from the start of the film at the Union Pacific Depot in Salt Lake City.
Casey is finally caught on the steps of the Utah State Capitol.
The final horse show scene where the police track down Harry was filmed at the Salt Palace Arena, which was demolished and replaced with the Delta Center (now called Energy Solutions Arena).
