This low budget independent feature shot entirely in Snohomish County. The film is a coming-of-age story following Henri (Addie Land), a teenage girl who must come to terms with her lower-class lifestyle. Featuring performances by several well-known actors, the film premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival and later Sundance in 2004, and has recently become available on DVD.
Opening shots show various locations along the I-5 corridor between Conway to the north and Everett to the south.
We first see Henri and her mom (Cara Seymour) arrive at the old Greyhound bus station at Pacific & Hoyt in Everett. This was also seen in an episode of The Fugitive in 2000.
They are next seen walking down 41st Drive NE in Marysville.
Exterior shots of Grandmom's house were done at an old ramshackle house on 41st Drive NE, just west of 116th Street NE in Marysville that has since been torn down.
Interior scenes of Grandmom's house were done in an old house off 118th Place SE near Thornton Sullivan Park on Silver Lake.
The casino where Jim (Gary Farmer) works and Frank (Bruce Davison) plays is the old Tulalip Casino on 64th Street NE in Marysville. It is still open, but has since been replaced by the huge 10-story Tulalip Resort Casino north of here. Only the exterior shots & parking lot were filmed here. The bus stop & Jim's trailer were across 33rd Avenue NE to the north of the casino. This area has since been demolished.
The casino buffet scenes where Kate & Henri first spot Jim were filmed at King Buffet at 5303 Evergreen Way in Everett.
The residential area Henri & family arrive in is 64th Street NE in Marysville, near the YMCA.
The high school scenes were filmed at Edmonds-Woodway High School at 7600 212th Street SW in Edmonds.
Chat (Noah Fleiss) picks up Henri in his jeep on 216th Street SW near the baseball field of Edmonds-Woodway High.
The espresso stand that Chat & Henri visit is at the corner of Everett Avenue & Walnut Street in Everett.
Chat lets Henri off outside the old Redmen lodge on California Street in Everett, between Colby & Wetmore. This building has since been torn down.
Henri is walking along Hoyt Avenue near Hewitt Avenue in Everett when Jim & Kate pull up to get her. The old Monte Cristo Hotel on Wall St. is in the background.
The exterior & interior of the paper mill where Kate works is the Kimberly Clark paper mill at 2600 Federal Avenue on the waterfront in Everett.
Chat's family lives at 328 Alverson Boulevard in north Everett.
Henri "sees green" through her sunglasses outside Totem Family Dining at 4410 Rucker Avenue in Everett.
I believe the beach with the pilings is behind Performance Marine at 930 West Marine View Drive on Everett's waterfront.
The museum scenes were filmed at the Edmonds Historical Museum at 118 5th Avenue North in Edmonds. The museum is housed in the old Carnegie library from 1910.
Henri goes window shopping on 5th Avenue in Edmonds. She looks across the street at what was Olive's Gourmet Food at 107 5th Avenue.
Jim's car drives down Smokey Point Boulevard in Marysville, toward 116th Street NE.
The grocery store where Henri is reunited with her mom is now an IGA (formerly the Allen Creek Thriftway) at 6610 64th Street NE Marysville, WA.
