This 2002 thriller stars Jennifer Lopez as Slim, who finds herself trapped in an abusive relationship with Mitch (Bill Campbell). She is desperate to find a way out for herself and her young daughter, Gracie - but escape is not that easy. The film jumps back-and-forth between Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, and northern Michigan. In reality, the Michigan scenes were substituted with Gig Harbor & Port Townsend, WA.
The first house where Slim and Mitch are seen moving into at the start of the film is located at 490 Prospect Boulevard in Pasadena, CA. This was also featured extensively in That Thing You Do!
The "Red Car Diner" where Slim & Ginny (Juliette Lewis) work at the beginning of the film is now the Organic Panificio Restaurant at 4211 Admiralty Way in Marina del Rey, CA.
Mitch tracks down Slim & Gracie at the Hollywood Premiere Motel at 5333 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles.
Upon arrival in Seattle, Joe (Dan Futterman) drives Slim & Gracie across the West Seattle Bridge.
They are next seen driving north on Melrose Avenue East with the REI store and Seattle Center behind them.
Joe lives at 311 East Thomas Street in Seattle. This is where the goons posing as FBI agents search for Slim.
Slim is seen riding a ferry to a "northern Michigan" ferry dock - in reality the Port Townsend Ferry Dock.
An aerial shot of Gig Harbor, WA is shown as the Michigan town where Slim now lives.
The school house in the film is the Cupola House at 380 Jefferson Street in Port Townsend.
The gas station/mini-mart where Slim calls Mitch is now the Rosedale Market at 8111 86th Avenue NW in Rosedale, near Gig Harbor.
The "Double D Marina" where Slim works in Michigan is at 3615 Harborview Drive in Gig Harbor.
Upon arriving in Michigan, Slim gets an apartment in the alleyway off Washington Street between Taylor & Adams Streets in Port Townsend.
The pier where Joe & Slim have a talk while Gracie encounters Robbie (Noah Wyle) is the Taylor Street Pier in Port Townsend.

The bridge featured in the car chase sequence is on Center Street in Piru, CA. This bridge has been featured in several other film productions.

The final shot of the film is a helicopter shot over Elliott Bay, with either the Bainbridge Island or Bremerton ferry heading toward the ferry terminal in Seattle.
