This quirky coming-of-age film centers on Vanessa (Savannah Wiltfong), an Alaskan teenager who obsesses over her "one true love" Philip (Shayne Topp) in the midst of her school's annual prestigious "Snowstorm Survivor" challenge. As the captain of a team of other misfits, she sees a chance to prove herself in front of the whole school. Although the entire film takes place in Alaska, it was actually shot in Washington State.
The "Sweetest Bean" was built behind Park Ridge Community Church at 3805 Maltby Road in Bothell.
Exteriors and interiors of the Amigone Funeral Home as well as Vanessa's bedroom were filmed at 10411 145th Place SE in Renton.
The Nichols School was actually King's Junior/Senior High School at 19303 Fremont Avenue North, Seattle.
The auditorium was filmed at the Landmark on the Puget Sound Retirement Home at 23660 Marine View Drive South in Des Moines.
Gymnasium and school bathroom scenes were filmed in the Hiawatha Gym in Hiawatha Park at 2900 California Avenue SW in West Seattle.
The lake and park scenes were filmed at Rattlesnake Lake south of North Bend.
Vanessa and Philip are also seen at the former Fun Forest Amusement Park in Seattle Center.
