This Shakespeare adaptation ("Taming the Shrew") became one of the top teen films of the 90s and help launch the careers of a few of its young stars (Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles). It was set in Seattle and the majority of the film took place at fictional "Padua High School," which was actually the historic landmark Stadium Bowl High School at 111 North E Street in Tacoma.
The school's large inner courtyard was where Michael (David Krumholtz) first gives Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) the "new kid" tour and we are introduced to the other characters one-by-one.
The opening scene was filmed at Kerry Park in Seattle. This is the typical view you see in almost all movies & TV shows filmed here.
The spot where Michael veers out of the parking lot and off the hill toward the stadium was on the bushy hillside on the southern side of the Stadium Bowl (for which the school gets its name). This entire parking lot, also seen at the end of the film:
...was replaced by a large new parking structure, and therefore looks much different than in the film.
The Stratford family house where Kat (Julia Stiles) & Bianca (Larisa Oleynik) live with their father (Larry Miller) is at 2715 Junett Street, Tacoma.

The famous Fremont Troll under the Aurora Bridge (at 36th & the end of Troll Avenue) is the huge thing Cameron & Bianca are climbing on.
The bar where Michael & Cameron find Patrick (Heath Ledger) is the Buckaroo Tavern 4201 North Fremont Avenue in the Fremont district of Seattle.
Gil's Music Shop was a former Ted Brown music store and is now part of the Tacoma School of the Arts at 1117 Broadway in Tacoma. This is where Patrick sees Kat playing guitar & where she backs into Joey's car outside.
In the film's most iconic scene, Patrick serenades Kat at the Stadium Bowl. He begins by sliding down a loudspeaker pole onto the stands on the east side, then jumps down onto the bleachers.
Kat and Patrick take a paddle boat out on the north end of Lake Union, right in front of Gasworks Park.
The paintball scene was filmed on the east side of Gasworks Park on the north end of Lake Union.
The Century Ballroom at 915 East Pine Street on Capitol Hill was the stage & dance floor at the prom.
The other interior shots of the prom including the staircase was the interior lobby of the Paramount Theater at 911 Pine Street in Seattle.
