After three terms as Mayor, Mayor Don Gronewold did not seek re-election, which led to a wide-open field of candidates: Gary Manier, Mark Adams, John Christian, Don Brubaker, and Bill Schell. Manier would rise above the rest, winning the election with 41% of the vote to Adams' 34%. Manier would continue his Mayorship unopposed until 2017.
