The Washington Park District installs a disc golf course throughout Washington Park.

Jean Butterly and Terry Hillegonds were the 1998 Washingtonian Award recipients.

Washington became a home rule community in 1998, meaning the city could exercise its power and perform any function as long as it did not interfere with state law.  One of the first things done was to cut property taxes by 55%.

Sara Bailey became the first girls basketball player at WCHS to achieve All-State recognition.
