The first mention is made in the press about a potential replacement for the Upper Free Bridge in Peoria (the replacement would be the McClugage Bridge) and a road extending from "the forks west of Washington" (the current Rt 8/24 intersection) to the bridge.

Dutch Lane finally had gravel laid for the first time from the Metamora blacktop to the Woodford County line.
