Edmund Reich purchased the lot now at 127 Washington Square for the construction of a two-story brick building, the previous wood-frame building undoubtedly destroyed in the Sun Power explosion from 1895.  Reich constructed what became the Danforth Bank building and what is now the home of the Washington Historical Society.  Reich ran a saloon there until the Danforth Bank took control in 1903.
