1859

The first ordinances aimed at dram shops (saloons) were passed in 1859. Licenses were now required, and on May 3, three were granted to George Jacquin, Anthony Vetterhoeffer, and Henry Bartlette.

Rev. Charles F. Beach was installed as minister of the First Presbyterian Church on November 8, 1859.
