Please register with the park as below in addition to the Scouts BSA.
CANDIDATES and First time ELANGOMAT:
If this is your first time volunteering at Patuxent River Park, please follow the steps below to register for the workday on June 17th, 2023.
Register Online for the Park Steward opportunity with your group (Order of the Arrow Washington D.C.)
Complete the following Vaccination Status Disclosure and email the form and verification of vaccination (if applicable) to ONLY Brenda Miller in the Department’s Human Resources Office at Volunteer.Services@pgparks.com, please do not send it to me. If you have any questions about the form, they can also be directed to Brenda Miller. (Employee Commission ID #: Volunteer Department: NHRD Work Location: PRP)
Sign the Attached Volunteer Release/Agreement and send it back to Monica.Stiefel@pgparks.com.

RETURNING ELANGOMAT/TRAIL STAFF (DOES NOT INCLUDE CEREMONIES OR COOK CREW)
If you have previously volunteered at Patuxent River Park, please follow the steps below to register for the June 17th, 2023 workday. (Note for the OA this would only be the trail crew, not the in-camp groups)
Register Online for the Park Steward opportunity with your group (Order of the Arrow Washington D.C.) by clicking on Group Sign Up and logging in using your sign in information from last year.
Sign the Attached Volunteer Release/Agreement and send it back to Monica.Stiefel@pgparks.com.
Complete the online background check
Email Michelle Adams (Michelle.Adams@pgparks.com). Michelle is the head Administrative Assistant at the Park Rangers Office. You will need to work with her to schedule an appointment to get fingerprinted.
When you email your completed Volunteer Release/Agreement to the PRP Volunteer Coordinator Monica Stiefel, please also mention that you have completed the online background check and set up your fingerprinting appointment so we can keep up to date when the results come in.

Your remaining gear should include the following:
Complete Boy Scout uniform (shirt, pants, belt, socks, neckerchief, & hat)
Rain gear (a scout is prepared)
Work clothes, work gloves, and hat (some work projects will involve work that will potentially soil your clothing; so be sure to bring work clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty or paint on. As there is a possibility you may encounter poison ivy, please consider wearing a long-sleeved shirt and long pants for your work clothing, and bring a change of work clothing in a plastic bag should you need to change during the day.)

REMEMBER: All clothing should be appropriate for the outdoors and time of year. Be prepared!
DO NOT BRING: radios, CD player, or other electronic equipment. You may be asked to check-in your cell phone or to lock it in your car.
DO NOT BRING: any snacks or food items.
Cancellation Policy: Refunds for events with fees of $25.00 and over may be granted (less 15% handling fee) for the following reasons: sickness (with physician's statement), relocation, or death in the family. If the event fees are under $25.00 per person, there will be no refunds and the fees cannot be credited toward another event. Refund requests must be submitted in writing to the Chapter Adviser and acknowledged.
Ensure you are prepared with the Induction Checklist items, to include a personal tent, and facemasks, and your Medical Form parts A-B.
You have two years from your election date to complete an Induction Weekend for membership to the OA. If you are not able to attend one of these events please contact the Washington, D.C. Chapter for opportunities in the Spring of 2022.
