SUPER HEROES

Here we are; our last week of classes; including our last art project for this 2019 - 2020 school year. I want you all to know that I thoroughly enjoyed being your art teacher and feel so lucky to have met all of you. I was thinking about how much you all have made my heart so happy; and the word SUPERHEROES came to my mind. What does it mean to be a Super Hero or Super Heroine? When you hear the term Superhero what images to you see? Maybe your mind saw pictures of Superman, Superwoman, Spiderman, or Batman. What makes them Superheroes? We read about superheroes in comic books or watch them in action in movies; but what do they have that makes them “SUPERHEROES”? Are they superheroes because they have Super strength, or because they can shoot spider webs from their wrist? Maybe they are superheroes because they have a super cool car and have a stylish crime fighting outfit and mask.

Then I thought, "There has to be more to being a SUPERHERO than having cool stuff or being able to fly, shoot webs or fight villains?"

What characteristics do SUPERHEROES have to possess to be super?

Are super heroes brave? What does it mean to be brave? Are super heroes selfless? What does it mean to be selfless? Are super heroes cheerful and can make you smile when you feel sad? A sense of humor is a good thing!

Think about the people in your life and community; do you know any superheroes? Now, think about YOU. What makes you a superhero?
