[UPDATE] The original Call of Duty: Warzone is now officially offline. GameSpot attempted to play the original Warzone on Xbox today and we were not able to. The game instead directs players to Warzone 2.0, which launched today, November 16.

Call of Duty: Warzone gets another huge update today that's set to roll out a Verdansk map makeover. Players have been anticipating the nuke event for a little while now and that will see the map get an 80s update. Activision teased the end of Verdansk as we know it just last week, and now it's finally upon us.

The map refresh is part of a Season 3 Warzone update arriving today, April 21 at 9 p.m. PT, and April 22 at 12 a.m. ET / 5 a.m. BST. It weights in at around 25GB, and follows the Black Ops Cold War update that dropped yesterday, which was significantly smaller.

Plunder was stripped from the Warzone ecosystem in July 2022, and today, April 26th, it finally resurfaces. However, given the current state of Warzone 2 and the general consensus circulating the game, it may be a pointless update, as many players currently find themselves tussling with stability, performance, and audio-based issues.

More than 100 players enter, only one squad leaves. Welcome to the ultimate theater of war; welcome to Warzone, a free Modern Warfare experience! Get the game free, gather your squad, and jump into the action today.

Warzone will be available today at 8AM PDT for players who already own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. After downloading the 23 GB update, head to the Warzone panel (previously named Classified) in the Main Menu.

And, for a week at least, players have been able to play Plunder to their heart's content, alongside the new Warzone Ranked mode. But for reasons no one quite fully understands, Plunder is set to be removed from Warzone 2 once again at around 6pm BST / 1pm EDT / 10am PDT today, being replaced by Battle Royale Duos, Trios and Quads.

It's not just Plunder that's being removed either, with Mini-Royale (solos) also being made unavailable for players from later today. That leaves four modes on the May 24 Warzone 2 weekly playlist, each having a variety of squad size options:

When Activision launched Call of Duty: Warzone 2 a few weeks back, Warzone 1.0 went temporarily offline while developer Raven Software focused on support for the new game. Raven has its hands busy with flying boats, infinite money glitches, and frequent crashes plaguing Warzone 2, but it has kept its promise: as of today Warzone 1.0 is back online, but it has a new name.

Notably, today's relaunch has (at least for the time being) killed the small map category for both Warzone 1 and its sequel. Fortune's Keep, a well-liked small map that replaced Rebirth Island earlier this year, is gone, and Activision isn't planning to add it, Rebirth, or Warzone's first map Verdansk, back anytime soon. 2351a5e196
