Welcome to Warriors and Warlords!
The Warriors and Warlords is held at the Tomah Recreation Center 1625 Butts Ave, Tomah, WI, 54660
The Main entrance is Gate 5, the gate on Butts Avenue. Please don't block the gate. Pull all the way in and park near the gate.
If you arrive after Gate closes, please come back to Gate the next day.to pay and sign the required site waivers.
Site Update As Of 7-6-24.
There's been some damage to the list fields and camping areas north of the list fields due to heavy rains. The Land Mayor has already reached out to groups affected. The List Field layout for Armored Combat, Rapier and Youth will be roughly in the same space but slightly different. We won't know the final layout until early this week when we start site setup.
The roads through the site are okay but you may not be able to drive on to any of the camping areas.
We recommend extra tarps, tent stakes, and longer tent stakes.
There does not seem to be any damage to the RV area.
Further updates will be posted during setup.
Site Update As Of 7-9-24. StrawBoss has set up is well underway! Hay bales are getting delivered today. The roads on site are in great shape!
Bonus! The site is allowing the use of additional permanent bathrooms and showers! Those spots will be marked on the map at Info Point!
Condition of the Archery Range As Of 7-9-24. WW archers!! Here is your report on the state of the range: It was a mess this morning with an inch and a half of mud. If it dries overnight, the plan is to shoot down the long clay aisle in the arena, with everything as currently scheduled.
If tomorrow, it's still mucky and messy and we cannot shift the hay bales safely, archery will be turned around to shoot into the oil pit (as some may remember from several years ago). This will limit shooting distances, but will allow us to at least shoot most of what is scheduled.
Thank you, and see you on the range (whichever way it looks)! --Ginevra
Site Update As Of 7-10-24. The list and most other areas are drier, except for Equestrian. More context for the horse folks: when Rosamond Redmare drove their truck into the arena Tuesday to drop off the jousting list, they left no tire tracks in the spots without puddles. Equestrian activities will continue as planned, but folks will have to be mindful of obstacle/playing area placement if they want to avoid standing water. And it might not be safe to leave armor on the ground under the shelter, that was the biggest puddle.
Greetings from WW!
Because of the damage done to the grass from heavy rain and tractor pulling, the ground is less resilient than in previous years.
Everyone needs to be mindful of our impact and to avoid further damage we are minimizing the amount of time vehicles are on the grass.
When you arrive at your campsite unload your vehicle, park it, and then set up your encampment.
Please feel free to reach out to the team if you need a specific accommodation. People with state issued handicap parking permits, vehicles used for the event, and royalty will be given parking tags for the event. We will have them at Strawboss.
We are looking forward to seeing you all!
