"There are many wonders in life that enliven the spirit and provide support to the inquisitive, the people, the students. As a teacher, I firmly believe in the significance of wonder, curiosity, and the acquisition of knowledge. For over twenty-five years, I have stoked students' sense of wonder and curiosity to help them appreciate and understand the significance of our literature, of our language, and of our current developing world of ideas and creative constructs. The endeavor is to engage students so that they can expand their perception to a level of thinking that does not merely accept but questions, that is not intimidated by not knowing, but seeks beyond biases and limits of thinking to confront the complexities and intricacies of knowledge in all or many of its facets and beauty. The beauty of teaching is not in the telling but in the student's recognition of discovery, seeing the power of words and of understanding beyond what was previously known by them. Teaching is an art and as such needs to be expressed in creative ways."
