If you want a compact, high-performance winch for track days and tight recovery scenarios, choose WARN PV3500; if you need a heavy-duty gooseneck towing solution for massive fifth-wheel loads, choose Eaz-Lift Camco EazLift Universal.
These two products occupy entirely different corners of the automotive world. One is a precision piece of recovery gear designed to pull your vehicle out of trouble on a race circuit or muddy trail, while the other is a structural towing adapter that transforms your truck bed into a hauling powerhouse for industrial-grade trailers. Comparing them directly is like comparing a Formula 1 pit crew tool to a semi-truck coupling, but understanding their specific strengths helps you buy the right tool for your specific mechanical needs.
• Who is this for?: The WARN unit is for racers and off-roaders needing reliable, space-saving recovery power, while the Eaz-Lift unit is for truck owners hauling heavy fifth-wheel campers or livestock trailers.
The WARN PV3500 Replacement Winch is engineered for one primary purpose: getting you unstuck when every inch counts. This isn't a brute-force machine meant for dragging entire houses or moving shipping containers. Instead, it is a specialized piece of equipment designed with a focus on efficiency and form factor. This low mass is critical for enthusiasts who mount winches on front bumpers where added weight can negatively affect suspension dynamics or handling balance.
You can fit this unit into bays that would swallow larger, heavier alternatives whole. This compactness is not just about saving space; it is about integration. For someone running a modified vehicle on a track, every ounce matters, and the ability to mount a functional winch without compromising the vehicle's center of gravity is a genuine advantage. The metallic finish suggests a build quality focused on durability without unnecessary bulk, relying on efficient engineering rather than sheer volume of material.
This product is ideal for the track-day enthusiast or the serious off-road hobbyist who values speed and agility. If your goal is to have a safety net for mud, sand, or steep inclines without adding a mountain of dead weight to your bumper, this is the logical choice. However, you should skip this product if you are looking for a permanent, high-capacity towing anchor or a winch designed for commercial fleet use where maximum pulling force over long durations is the only metric that matters. The WARN PV3500 is a specialist tool, not a general-purpose hammer.

In stark contrast, the Eaz-Lift Camco EazLift Universal Fit Gooseneck Ball Plate is built for the heavy hauler. This is not a device for quick recoveries or weekend dune bashing; it is a foundational component for converting a standard fifth-wheel-equipped truck into a gooseneck towing powerhouse. The core function here is transformation. By utilizing industry-standard in-bed fifth wheel rails, this plate allows you to install a 2-5/16-inch hitch ball with a precise 2-inch offset. This geometry is essential for maintaining proper tongue weight and alignment when connecting to gooseneck trailers.
These numbers tell a clear story: this unit is designed to handle the stress of massive loads. Whether you are towing a large horse trailer, a massive livestock carrier, or a heavy-duty flatbed, this plate provides the necessary structural integrity. The construction from durable, powder-coated steel ensures protection against the elements, a necessity for any equipment left mounted in a truck bed year-round. Safety chain attachment slots on both ends further emphasize that security and redundancy are paramount in its design philosophy.
That heft is intentional; it represents the mass required to safely dissipate the forces generated by a 30,000-pound load. This product is strictly for those who own trucks capable of handling such ratings and who frequently engage in serious towing. If you are looking for a lightweight accessory for occasional light-duty use, this is overkill and likely too cumbersome to justify. But for the owner of a heavy-duty truck planning to tow large fifth-wheel trailers, this universal fit plate is the critical link between your vehicle and your cargo.
• Best for Track Days and Vehicle Recovery → WARN PV3500. Its low weight and compact footprint make it the superior choice for racing applications where minimizing mass and maximizing space are critical.
• Best for Heavy Hauling and Towing → Eaz-Lift Camco EazLift Universal. With a 30,000-pound rating, it is the only viable option for moving large trailers that exceed standard pickup capabilities.
• Best for Installation Flexibility → WARN PV3500. Its smaller dimensions allow it to fit into tight bumper mounts where larger units simply will not clear the frame or bodywork.
• Best for Structural Durability Under Load → Eaz-Lift Camco EazLift Universal. The powder-coated steel and massive weight capacity ensure it withstands the immense torque of heavy trailers.
• Best for Portability → WARN PV3500.
• Best for Multi-Purpose Truck Utility → Eaz-Lift Camco EazLift Universal. It expands your truck's utility by enabling gooseneck towing, a capability most stock trucks lack without this adapter.
• Best for Compact Vehicles → WARN PV3500. The small size means it does not interfere with ground clearance or approach angles as much as a large towing plate might.
• Best for Safety Chain Integration → Eaz-Lift Camco EazLift Universal. It includes dedicated safety chain attachment slots, a feature vital for heavy towing but irrelevant for a winch used for self-recovery.
I would choose the WARN PV3500 if my primary goal was participating in track days or managing personal off-road recovery situations. The sheer advantage of having a winch that weighs less than five pounds cannot be overstated when you are trying to optimize a vehicle's performance and handling. It solves the problem of being stuck without compromising the car's dynamics. Conversely, I would never consider the WARN for towing a heavy trailer, nor would I suggest using the Eaz-Lift plate for a track car. They serve distinct masters. For the specific intent of track preparation and vehicle recovery, the WARN PV3500 is the clear winner due to its intelligent balance of power and minimal mass.
The WARN PV3500 is designed for vehicle recovery with a focus on compactness and weight savings. While effective for most passenger vehicles and light trucks, it is not rated for the massive loads that require commercial-grade winches or the 30,000-pound capacity found in heavy towing accessories.
Yes, this plate transforms a truck with existing in-bed fifth-wheel rails into a gooseneck setup. It uses the existing rails to mount a 2-5/16-inch ball, allowing you to tow gooseneck trailers without removing the fifth-wheel rails themselves.
Their safety features differ based on function. The WARN PV3500 relies on secure mounting and cable integrity for vehicle recovery. The Eaz-Lift Camco EazLift Universal focuses on structural safety with safety chain slots and a high-rated steel construction designed to prevent failure under extreme tongue weight and gross trailer weight.
