Privacy Policy for Warmside
Last updated: 2026
Short version
Warmside is a calculator, a textbook and a site binder for insulating a house. It has no account, no sign-in and no server of ours behind it. Everything you type stays on your phone unless you deliberately send a question to the Thermist assistant.
1. Nothing is collected about you
We do not gather names, email addresses, device identifiers, location or usage statistics. There is no analytics library, no advertising SDK and no attribution tool inside the app. We cannot see which calculators you open or what you build.
2. Where your work lives
Build-ups, saved calculations, projects with their stages and take-offs, site notes and readings, quiz history, badges, your material kit and every setting are written to files inside Warmside's private container on the device. They are never uploaded. If you use iCloud device backup, Apple's backup rules apply as they do for any app; we do not run a sync service.
3. Reminders
If you switch reminders on, the app asks iOS for permission and schedules local notifications on the device itself for dated tasks, moisture re-checks and the weekly project review. Nothing about those reminders leaves the phone. You can turn them off in Settings or in iOS at any time.
4. The Thermist assistant
Thermist is the only feature that uses the network. When you press Generate, Analyze, Review or send a chat message, the text of that request is transmitted to OpenAI and answered by the gpt-4o-mini model using the app's own service credentials. What goes in the request is exactly what the screen shows you: the form you filled in, the layers of the build-up you chose to review, or the message you typed. If you enable "Include project details" in Settings, the technical fields of the linked project are added (house type and year, element type, layer names with thicknesses and lambda values, calculated U-values, design temperatures, the problem description). The project name, address, site notes and prices are never included in any request. OpenAI's handling of submitted text is described in their policy: https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy. Nothing is sent until you have read the in-app notice and agreed to it.
5. Working offline
Every calculator, lesson, quiz, library entry and project tool works without a connection. Only Thermist needs one.
6. Deleting your data
Because nothing is held on our side, removing data is entirely in your hands: use Reset All Data in Settings to clear the app's files, or delete the app to remove its container completely.
7. Children
Warmside is a professional tool for adults planning building work and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone, of any age.
8. Changes to this policy
If the app gains a feature that changes how data is handled, this document will be revised and the date at the top updated.
